Just noticed the February opening of this Category 6 Hotel in New Orleans. It is located on Canal Street. We'll have to stay there soon.
Right next to the Ritz Carlton! Looks nice. Let us all know how it is when you stay there!
This could be a great place to stay!
Any other Marriott's you'd recommend in the Big Easy?
We have enjoyed (full service) stays at the Marriott on Canal Street, the Marriott at the Convention Center, the Renaissance Arts, and the Renaissance Pere Marquette. All of these hotels are within walking distance of the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Super Dome, St. Charles streetcar, Riverwalk, casino, etc., and many wonderful places to dine. All have significant parking rates. The available rates usually determine where we stay. Rates are really high for sporting events, Mardi Gras, etc., so I try to plan way ahead and reserve rooms on points if possible. For example, I have an upcoming reservation at the J.W. Marriott for 25,000 points a night. The rate at the hotel is $339+tax. I've never stayed there, but it gets good reviews.
We have also enjoyed our stays at the Marriott Lakeway Metairie. We have received the best upgrades at this hotel. Parking on the week-end is complimentary and they have always given us complimentary breakfast vouchers on the week-end.
We stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Kenner prior to flying out of New Orleans before Christmas and got a great park-n-fly rate. We were upgraded to a suite. The staff recommended a restaurant within walking distance that we liked very much. We also stayed at the Springhill Suites near the Convention Center for 2 nights over New Year's Eve for $118+tax a night. The hotel itself was surprisingly quiet for such a busy week-end; however, the club located across the street was not so quiet. Luckily, the fan on the ac could be set to run constantly and that helped drown out the noise.
Let me know if you have any questions about specific properties and I'll try to answer them.
Thanks, and I will once we decide on when we might be going--sometime this Spring I hope
