I'm new to the Marriott Rewards program, and have a free night at a category 4. We would like to stay somewhere in Texas. Any suggestions, not including San Antonio?
I like the Renaissance - Market Hall on Stemmons in Dallas
The Marriott in Ft. Worth might be a category 5, but it would be a good place if you've never seen much of Ft. Worth. It's near the westernized area of downtown. I think it's called Sundance area. It's also near the new Bass auditorium. It's also not a far drive to the cultural district with the zoo, botanical gardens, Pioneer Village, the Carter Art Museum, Kimball Art Museum, Museum of Science and History with the planetarium and Omni theater, Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium and the Fat Stock Show should be going on now or very soon. The stock yards area is 5 miles to the north of downtown and the courthouse. The water gardens are at the other end of downtown, near the I-20 overpass.
The Blackstone is a Cat 3 in Fort Worth. Very good bargain.
The Renaissance is a cat 5 and won't work. (great place however)
I have stayed at this property several times to get away from my busy schedule. New Braunfels is a great town for kids and adults. It is close to S.A. but you would never know it was 30 min away.
Look up the town website for additional information and also the town of Gruene is very close with great restaurants and shopping.
You must be trying to use a Marriott cat 1-4 certificate.
The idea in New Braunfels is good one.
In the Houston area the JW Marriott at the Galleria is a cat 4 and is very nice. Lots of restaurants and shopping in the area.
In the Sugarland area there is a Marriott Town Square that is very nice. Also lots to do there.
In downtown Austin there is a nice Courtyard. You can walk to 6th St and all the clubs.
In downtown Fort Worth the Blackstone Hotel is nice. We love DT Fort Worth.
