What better place to dine than in our wine cellar with a few friends?
Hope you are having 1st growths on your Birthday and not 2bc!
Have a great Lafitte Rothschild, and think of the joy of that Pan Am flight!
And, if this is your kind of thing, and (in an effort to make this relevant) if you end up in....
Great information, and have never been to either, but will try.
Another great wine cellar you can dine in, is Tony's in Houston, Texas. Tony V. was a master host when we dined, every time.
Jerrycoin - my first and only meal at Tony's was the night I graduated from college (only, uh, um, well, basically, 30 years ago). We really enjoyed it! Glad to hear it's still going strong!
Actually one of the best cellars I've been to is the Cave at Justin Vineyards surrounded by a thousand bottles of Isosceles, his red of various vintages, with many retailing at 1000 a bottle if you can find them. JUstin hanged hands and we hope that the tradition will continue.
In Paso Robles CA Gary Eberle has an excellent cellar at his vineyard of the same name. But recently we were one of 11 guests of the owner of Jada Vineyards, (Paso, west side of 101) and sampled all the newly released wines, including his super Rhone varietal XCV (of the same rating) together with a catered meal. Wines to savor and keep!
