I am currently in Fuertaventura in the Canary Islands. There has been one unconfirmed case of Coronavirus on the Island. But the Spanish government is imposing the same travel restrictions here as are in force on the mainland where the virus is spreading. Jet 2 turned back planes coming here from the UK this morning without any advance warning to the hotels and Tui and others have cancelled flights and holidays to here. Until today, everything has been normal but government restrictions now mean that a number of multiple retailers here have now closed down until July!!!!. This whole thing is totally crazy! I am certain that I am safer here from the virus than if i go home to Manchester!
I don't know how if my return flight on Tuesday will depart, however, it anybody out there is willing to contribute to a fund to allow Linda and I to remain here indefinitely, in the sunshine, we will be only too happy to stay( purely for research purposes of course!)
