Hi all - I am a USA resident traveling to St. Petersburg Russia the last week of July 2020 (staying 5 nights at the Renaissance St. Petersburg Baltic Hotel) and have questions about obtaining a tourist visa that I hope others may be able to help out with. I've been to Russia before, but during the World Cup the visa came with your credentials and tickets - this is the first time I'm applying for a visa alone.
I have posted a question to Marriott support to see if they can help me get the 'hotel invitation" for my girlfriend and I for the dates we are in town - I understand this is the first requirement for a visa.
- Is it best to use one of the Visa services (ie. ils-usa.com, traveldocs.com, …)? If so, which have you had the best luck with?
- Did you fedex/ups your documentation or go to one if the Visa Services place of business?
- Did you take your documentation directly to the Russian Consulate and avoid the Visa service companies altogether?
- Any tips or "gotchas" that we should be aware of ahead of time?
Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to provide. Brian
