We are going to visit Hilton Head for the first time this spring. Does anyone have any insight in choosing the Westin property over the Marriott? I also would love to hear your ideas for Savannah and Charleston as well. Thanks!
I visited Hilton Head with my partner for the first time last August. We stayed at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa for five nights and truly enjoyed the property. The resort is in a mostly residential section of the island toward the "heel" end of the island; there were no hotels on the beach north of us, only homes backing up to the ocean. The beach was extremely wide and not at all crowded; we took advantage of it everyday and even at night for strolls under the stars. Many families with small children were at the resort, so the pool deck was often lively. That being said, the multiple pools and the amount of seating available was more than enough that we never felt it was overcrowded. During the day, a DJ played music at the pool deck; at night, live music was available in the open-air bar. Food was great at the bars and restaurant; we never tried the room service. Breakfast was offered in the main dining room and featured a large buffet with a lot of fresh food choices. We often ate dinner off property; we had a car, so getting around the island was fine. (The resort features surface parking and underground parking; we parked underground to keep the car cooler and out of the sun.) Without a car, the resort is quite far from the more commercial areas of the town, so you'd need to make some kind of arrangements to get around the island. We had no problems at all with our room and everyone we interacted with was pleasant, courteous, and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa in the future.
Thank you for your insight and the beautiful pictures. We have decided to stay at the Westin and are very much looking forward to it!
I live in SC. Near Charlotte so not in Hilton Head. I can say that everyone I know including my spouse always prefer the Westin versus the Marriott. Westin is much nicer. Marriott needs a full remodel. There are vacation clubs available in HH. I think 4 separate properties worth looking at if you need condo type space.
