Any ideas what it will be yet?
Well, the previous Megabonus "Unlock More" is still running through January 14th, and the "Exclusively For You" promotion seems to be running until mid March. I can't imagine Marriott running more than two promotions at once, and there's usually been a slight gap between Megabonuses, so maybe the next promotion will be announced in February.
well I just finished my "Exclusively for you " promotion on 31/12 which run in parallel with "Unlock More" so it was a result for my, my "Exclusively for you " generated over 58k points
No news yet. In case anyone is wondering, these were the dates for the Spring MegaBonus in recent years
2019: Mar 19 - Jun 4
2018: Jan 16 - Apr 15
2017: Jan 16 - Apr 15
2016: Feb 1 - May 15
2015: Feb 1 - Apr 30
2014: Feb 1 - Apr 30
Looks like we should be hoping for a Feb 1 start to the next promotion. Marriott usually sends out some sort of announcement a week or two before the start date. I suppose we should all be watching our email. Of course if past experience counts for anything, the next promo will show up on the promo page (and in the blogosphere) before Marriott sends us anything.
I am 100% certain if we keep checking TPG, we'll hear about it before Marriott informs anyone else! At this point, I'll just say it's a PROMO as Mega seems to be a thing of the past!
If the "elusively for you" is the new flavor of bonus, these are working there way to MicroBonus land
Mine was 2K points for a weekend stay, 3K more for your second.
This to a person who spends Sunday-Thursday in Marriotts. Yea I want to spend a couple weekends at a Marriott for another 5K points.
I would expect the point of promotions from Marriott's point of view is to entice members to make more stays. If they simply gave you more points for stays you've already booked, how does that make them any more money? It actually costs them money in more point redemptions. So they want business travelers to make weekend stays, and they want leisure travelers like me to make more stays overall (I almost never travel for work). I've noticed you gripe a lot about not getting more from Marriott for all the nights you stay (I love having Platinum status - lounge access, free breakfast, & late checkout are amazing), yet you don't seem to be willing to give Marriott anything in return. You act like spending a weekend at Marriott is the worst thing that could happen to you. So why should they be willing to just give you more points for your Sunday - Thursday stays?
Similar to hall, I was lucky on this one as I generated 44K points with the opening and a targeted bonus. Almost all were leisure nights.
Gobi, I find nipper comments on here quite balanced. He is one of our long standing roadies and I find his perspective to be quite valuable. He just calls things the way they are.
I'll throw some support behind nipper as well. He puts in a lot of nights at Marriott and if a promo means getting a bit more out of existing stays, so be it.
I do think one element of gobisbay's comment bears repeating "promotions from Marriott's point of view is to entice members to make more stays." I've been beating that drum for years. The challenge is how to appeal to business AND leisure travelers. It's almost impossible. The targeted promos over the last year or two have tried (and in my mind generally failed).
This last "Unlock More" promo did get me to make one extra stay (part 2 needed 6 stays to earn 15k and I already had 5 booked). Of course all my stays are leisure, though I travel quite a bit. Interestingly, I'll also end up with 44k between the last general promo and the targeting one I'm still working on.
So, how does Marriott encourage more stays from both business and leisure travelers with the same promo? I'm still trying to figure that out.
Great comment... I got the 2nd part 2000 points after 4 stays without even trying to achieve it! Some win, some dont... The part of the post "yet you don't seem to be willing to give Marriott anything in return" I found strange if the poster knew of nipper which I think in one post he spends like almost a year in Marriott hotels, hence what more do you think he possibly should/can give Marriott...Maybe we should revert to your original post and see how people officially did with UNLOCK
I can understand nippers frustration and satire, but I do not think we need to throw our support behind him and politely chastise gobisbay. Marriott is a good corporation trying to provide a valuable service to us and I think they do. It’s reward program has its pluses and minuses. What I think we can all agree on is that those of us who spend scores if not hundreds on days on the road each year..... 1250 + lifetime for me in Marriott properties..... is that some of us want more points during promotions..... For me I don’t care so much about promotions..... but, 75% bonus on every dollar that either I spend at a Marriott or every dollar my employer reimburses me for that I spend at Marriott is sweet! Plus all the other perks I get as a Lifetime Titanium member, which also means my better half enjoys every time we visit our four children, their families, our ten grandchildren, friends, etc.
Look at the perks we get for 50 and 75 nights, including the 15 free nights each year if you have a Marriott VISA Card, etc. Five or Ten Suite Nights, guaranteed room types 48 hour bumping rights.... is that fair to someone who gets bumped.... I am sorry, I should be nice, but I don’t care. Read the Ts and Cs..... If you don’t like it walk..... What I don’t like is complaining, it’s akin to whining. Marriott is a company, and a good one at that. If we have questions or complaints please express them as such, but to become frustrated is really kinda silly. People make mistakes, So, do companies, but just because you cannot always have your cake and eat it too, well is again, it’s kinda silly.
More than nothing & less than too much?
Does anyone have any updates regarding the upcoming promotions?
