Has anyone stayed near Hollywood (walk of fame, Rodeo Drive, etc..) and if so, what property would you recommend?
The Hollywood Walk of Fame area is a great attraction during the day and night life is vibrant up/down Sunset Blvd, Comedy Clubs, Night Clubs, etc. Hollywood/Rodeo Drive may be a little expensive, but if you afford it, the W Hollywood at 6250 Hollywood Blvd is a very nice hotel...but also very pricey. Parking, resort fees, etc on top of the $350-$500 a night room, so you might want to look outside the Hollywood area and try Pasadena, Glendale, or some of the beach cities (Laguna, Huntington, Redondo, Solana, etc). Just a word of caution to keep in mind, right now the homeless situation in LA is really out of hand. The JW Marriott near the Staples center (not that far from Hollywood and Vine) is in the middle of a lot of homeless/sidewalk tent settlements. They are nearby (within a couple blocks) of the Staples Center. So, some locations in the greater LA area are just not safe (physically or health wise). No kidding...be aware, check things out, and call the properties for information about the precautions they recommend when staying with them. You can still have a lot of fun and great shopping/sight seeing, you just have to be smart about your whereabouts. Cheers!
I stayed at the W 2 years ago....quite central indeed but if you have a car, make no sense to stay there.. I had no car and was super convenient to everything via walking, metro and bus...even to Zuma beach ( despite a long trek!) It is pricey and really for the party outgoing group.. looking for a quiet time, not your hotel. Their incidentals is quite high too due to the various restaurant and clubs on the hotel.. last time it was $500 pre-auth incidental..beds are heavenly but nothing super special about the hotel
