Can someone please tell me what’s the branding difference between an autograph hotel and an edition hotel as to me they both seem to operate in the same space ?
Best as I can tell, the EDITIoN concept (by Ian Schrager) is fairly consistent throughout all of the properties, very sterile, clean & modern design.
Autograph Collection properties are all different, independent-type boutique hotels. One doesn’t look similar to the others.
And the difference between Autograph and Design is?
No Lounge, No SNAs, No your 24 at Design Hotels.
Design Hotels don’t give free breakfast. You have to find a rate with breakfast baked into it! Most Design don’t upgrade either...
The Designs I’ve been seem to be part of that independent boutique niche also like the autograph hence why I asked. Your answer does split them apart at the level of service to elites only. Bizarre, but no doubt true.
I will be checking into a Design [I think] tomorrow
I’m trying a Design in a month. Let me know how it goes!
I have stayed at both and they offer different things. I don't see much overlap to be honest.
For example, there is no Autograph property that provides the same experience of the Edition Miami. For me its just like saying Ritz Carlton versus JW Marriott brands. I do like some RC but I favor JW much more.
