Has anyone heard of earning points if you don't get cleaning service each night?
You can earn 500 points per night that you don't get your room cleaned?
It's called the GREEN OPTION and the hotel must be participating in it (Not all hotels do- ask at check in) and you must leave the sign on your door by 2am each night. It's 500 for some & 250 for some hotels on a minimum 2 night stay.
One more caveat is that they have to clean every 3 days (or so). You cannot go a whole week without.
Says who ? I had 5 days at a Sheraton without housekeeping , got my green points and they hand a bag of towels outside on the 3rd day until I checked out.... maybe varies by locations/hotels?
I had asked at an RI a couple years ago and they said they needed to clean every 3 or 4 days. Possibly it has changed.
nipper I think the rule you mentioned still applies. We have stayed at TownePlace Suites, Springhill Suites and Marriott Vacation Clubs, within the last year, where we took advantage of the Green Choice/You Choose option and they all said the maximum number of days to skip was 2 days then they have to come into clean.
fta Pls note that it is very common that these points don't post properly to your rewards account after you check out. If you perform a search on this site, there are various posts from Insiders experience where points like these and those like 2k points bonuses packages with room rates require a follow up with the property before they get posted to your account.
I also found that to be true, it seems like getting the points posted to your reward account without additional action required is about 60/40 of the time.
It is a dilemma sometimes for us. It is great to be green and minimize laundry by reusing towel, etc. but the discussion has come up that taking advantage of this option has resulted in loss of housekeeping jobs.
I do it every chance I get. I don't like people entering my room with my stuff in anyways. And usually there are more towels than I need. Why not? Bring on the points!
