Currently Gold member, with 49 stays at the moment. I'm having a 3 night reservation starting in a week. Will Marriott bump me to Platinum if I ask them before my stay? Are there any data points for this kind of request?
@danutz19892 Welcome to Insiders! Congrats on reaching Platinum!! It doesn't hurt to ask by calling the customer service line, but my guess is they will not be able to pre-award you your Platinum status. Is there a specific benefit you would like to take advantage of?
Some times if you are are working with a accommodating front desk person, you can let them know about how excited you are that this stay is special because you will be reaching platinum elite. They certainly don't "have to' provide you any extra perks, but may provide you with an accomodotion(s). Being enthusiastic, courteous and appreciative, can go along way.
My impression is that it is all about what is actually posted to your account. In theory, maybe you could maybe break up your reservation to check out after the 1st night so that the 1 night credit you need to achieve Platinum will post sooner than to waiting for after your full stay. Normally, points and Elite night credits don't point until 2 days after you check out, so with a 3 night stay, your 1st night stay probably will not post until the day after you check out of your entire stay.
Pls let us know how your journey to Platinum goes. The good news is that there are still 2 months left in this year and all of next year to enjoy your Platinum benefits.!! Congrats again!
Thanks for your reply!
Main reasons for taking advantage of receiving Platinum before the stay are the 4pm late check-out and 50% bonus
@danutz19892 if your main purpose is the late check out, then they may be able to accommodate you, depends on their occupancy rate. Getting the free breakfast each day might have been harder to swing, which is the bene that I look forward to =).
IF you can split off your reservation for the 1st night it might be doable. I think I miscalculated, if you were able to check out, then your points should post the morning of check out after your 3rd night/4th day. It "should" post then, but sometimes there is a delay of about 24 hours or so.
Then you can ask/request the 4 pm checkout and the points for the other 2 nights (nights 2 &3) should be subject to the 50% kicker vs. the 25%. You would only get 1 set of welcome points, since it would still be considered one "stay" though. Good Luck!
