Heading to NYC Times Square for Christmas...
recommendations? Marquis - the W - other choices better???
I'd recommend staying away from Times Square unless you want to be centered in the midst of it all. There are a good number of very good Marriott properties within an easy 15 minute walk of Times Square, some with M Clubs, Executive Lounges etc. Plus you may find slightly lower rates if there is such a thing in NYC around the holidays.
Look for bang for the buck. I dislike the area immediately around Times Square, but M calls a lot of the properties within several blocks, TS. Manhattan is quite easy to get around, if you don't mind walking or the subway. I avoid downtown because I like to walk and it shuts down early. Still leaves a lot of properties to choose from. I tend to stay on the upper east side, but be warned that some are older properties and most have smaller rooms. Many use double and queen sized beds rather than kings. That may or may not matter to you. Post a few options and we can give some opinions.

There's a cannabis dispensary 1 block south of Time Square called Weed World. I was surprised to stumble upon that last month. We stayed off Time Square by the Javits Convention Center/ Hudson Yards in West Midtown at the Four Points. The great thing about Time Square is you can walk to and from pretty easily. I would have stayed at The Maxwell New York City, as it was the same price as the Four Points at the time, plus they're offering 7,500 bonus points using the M11 rate, but it was too far from where we needed to be. It's less than a mile East of Time Square.
Stay away from that area.
