I have never read a discussion of government rates on here.  If I have to pay for a room instead of points I always check on the government rate.  Sometimes they are really great.  I am staying at a resort now for $128 a night and the normal rates around $350-$400.  They usually have a limited number of rooms that they let out for that price and you sometimes have to book early.  Most of the luxury resorts don’t have them.  You can rent up to two rooms at this rate.

Many people don’t realize that they qualify for these rates but it includes teachers, state workers, firemen(even volunteer firemen),county workers, city workers and any other person that has a government ID.  (State,Federal, local)  I have used this rate all over the world.  You just need to have the ID.  And I do get my Platinum lifetime benefits as well.
