Hi Marriott experts, Recently went to France and stayed at 2 Marriott properties. Both properties I booked 2 rooms. Unfortunately looking at my summary they forgot to add my second room for points (on both hotels) so I have sent missing stay request. That said, I got to wondering how my point summary is calculated. For below:

AC Hotel Marseille Prado Velodrome

08/07/2019 - 08/10/2019

+9,071 Points

(4,326 Base + 3,245 Elite + 1,500 Extra)

The bill was $393.88 Euro which they calculated on my Marriott Visa bill to be $444.33 USD. I have the (old) Marriott/Chase credit card where I get 5 points for every $1 spent at Marriott location.

How is the base calculated? I see I got the Elite (75%) based on titanium status. And 1,500 extra for the promotion. Sorry if this is a really easy answer but I've never really looked at calculation of Base rate.

Thanks so much for any insight.

Base was calculated at 10 x the cost of your room (excluding Taxes & Fees)--just the base cost of the room. I would assume that Marriott used an exchange rate on the date of the transaction to determine the US$ to multiply by 10 (not sure which Exchange Rate Marriott uses for this calculation): Here's the T&Cs:

2.1.a. A Member will earn:

i. Ten (10) base Points for each U.S. dollar, or the currency equivalent, that is incurred and paid for by the Member on Qualifying Charges in accordance with Section 2.1.b. except at Element, Residence Inn, and TownePlace Suites properties, where a Member will earn five (5) base Points for each U.S. dollar spent on Qualifying Charges; and except at Marriott Executive Apartments and ExecuStay properties where a Member will earn two and a half (2.5) base Points for each U.S. dollar spent on Qualifying Rates in accordance with 2.1.e;

The points for your Credit Card are separately calculated and you'll receive those at 5x for all your "Marriott" spending which would include Taxes, Fees, Parking, Food, etc...everything on the Folio.
