My husband recently returned to teaching full time - so looking for places to go over his winter school break. We are in New Jersey, looking for someplace we can fly direct from Newark. Thanks!
I think you need to provide a little more information. How many of you are going and do you want to go to warm weather for beaches or do you want to go skiing. Are you looking to stay at hotels or are you trying to find Vacation Clubs (which are timeshares). If it is warm weather, then I would suggest that you look at the Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Central America or even South America (Brazil). If you are looking to use points Vacation Clubs may not take them. Also, remember that you and all the school vacation members are doing the same thing as you and many places may not accept points. Sorry that I cannot provide more helpful information at the moment. When you provide a little more info, I may be able to suggest a few destinations.
Yes, more information is certainly needed for Insiders to help out the best we can and will.
The Swan and Dolphin Resort right in the centre of Walt Disney World in Orlando! Winter warmth in the house of the mouse!
Looking for someplace warm - just for the two of us. We are doing a big family trip to Disney World at the Swan this year, so this is for next year (2020).
I am a MVC owner as well - so its all about planning! We go to Aruba Ocean Club all the time (our home resort) Looking for some other ideas, also have plenty of MR points to use.
Ft. Myers/Naples/Marco Island area? Beaches are excellent, weather in the winter is normally excellent and you won't find it all crazy with Spring Breakers as you'd find on the east coast of Florida. Now of course plan ahead as Spring Training in Florida does grab quite a few folks from all over, but the area is lovely with plenty of flights into Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in S. Ft. Myers.
Yes iahflyr , we loved this area. We've stayed at the Westin Cape Coral on a couple of occasions and it suited us perfectly, though may be a bit peaceful for some tastes. Having access to the nearby (close walking distance) country club facilities there was a real bonus.
I finished my last few years of school living right across the river from where the Westin is, of course back then it was only Mangroves! I've looked into staying at the Westin on one of our future visits to Ft. Myers next year so give us a great hotel review on the master review page, please.
Have you considered Phoenix/Scottsdale?
Here's a lengthy write-up on a family (and Marriott Insiders) favorite: JW Camelback, Grand Canyon, Taliesin
One of the insiders mentioned Marco Island and there is a Vacation Club and the JW Marriott hotel. Both are on the same beach. We have been to the Vacation Club and it is great and flying into Fort Myers is a relatively short flight from Newark. Other considerations are the Caribbean, lots of choices of hotels and Vacation Clubs, Mexico and Central America. One insider mentioned Arizona and there is a Vacation Club and (I think it is JW Marriott) in Desert Ridge (near Phoenix). Other suggestions might be Palm Springs/Desert as there are many Vacation Clubs in that area and then there is always Hawaii (where you cannot go wrong), with many hotels and several Vacation Clubs.
Consider Fort Lauderdale. They have an MVC BeachPlace Towers, as well as a Ritz-Carlton, W, Westin, and a full-service Marriott on/across street from the beach.
