#Best hotel in Rome for late August stay?
Grand Flora is the best, in my opinion, and more centrally located - also most expensive; others like the Marriott Autograph near Vatican.
if you had the choice would you pick the Marriott Grand Flora or the St. Regis Rome for your first time in the city?

Have a great trip!!!!
For August I would highly recommend Palazzo Naiadi for the pool. Location is good not excellent, but metro and bus stops are right there. By no means is remote or inconvenient. Excellent service and lovely rooftop pool and lounge. The service at the pool can be bit lacking, but cooling off in the pool in August is a huge plus. It is where we always stay in August now. Grand Flora is very nice and the location is sightly better. We often stay here (outside of summer time). Excellent option. Westin (haven't stayed) is a good location and close to Grand Flora so similar advantages to Grand Flora. The other one I'd suggest you consider (and we did ourselves for this August) is the Pantheon Iconic. The reviews are generally very good, but there have been some growing pains for sure. The location is EXCELLENT. The rooftop looks great. If you are seeing all the traditional sights it would be easy enough to run back to the hotel to get out of the heat and cool off. AC has gotten some high praise.
Since Rome is stopover for us at this point we aren't focused on sightseeing, So we picked Palazzo Naiadi for the pool and being in a less congested area than the Pantheon.
So where did you end up staying averyneil ?
