Maui Fire caused hotel to be inaccessible

We’re currently staying at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort in Maui on a 7 night certificate.  Last night we were unable to return to our hotel due to a fire that closed the roads to the resort. We tried to get a reservation at another hotel for the night but were unsuccessful. Our family of five ended up sleeping at a shelter.

Is this a situation where the hotel should offer some compensation for the inconvenience?  I know it’s not their fault but could help provide a silver lining to an otherwise unpleasant experience.
