I'm up to 78 nights through June 30. Extra goodies at 50 and 75 nights. How many nights do other Insiders have so far?
I've had a good first half. Sitting at 59 nights. Not bad for a 100% leisure traveler.
I benefited nicely from the Double Elite Nights Credit promo over the last 3 months, picking up 13 extra promotional nights as part of that. Shouldn't have any trouble reaching 75. Already have 8 of the 16 nights I need booked and I haven't made any plans beyond the beginning of September.
Can you elaborate on the Double Elite Night Credit promo? Was this for the Credit Card or for another promotion? I don't recall seeing this promotion offered to Titanium Elite. I'm jealous.
It was a targeted promo. This was not offered to all members. Some got bonus points, some got bonus nights, some got nothing. It doesn't matter your status. Marriott randomly selected some members. You might peruse this discussion to get more info. Exclusively For You Promo: What did you get?
Nice tally bejacob. As another pleasure-only traveler struggling each year for a minimum of 50+ nights, I'm envious of the Double Elite Night promo I've read about over the past several months. Having said that, I am grateful for being "targeted" at all and having two promos going right now:
Sorry, I just noticed that the rest of my post didn't make it (my cut & paste skills obviously need some practice). The finishing statements I had repeat what some have observed: it appears the Marriott targeted-marketing machine is alive and working just fine. I'm chasing elite nights and all of my upcoming stays (15 nights booked at this point with a few more to come) are rewards/points redemptions. Unfortunately, those redemptions don't qualify as stays for these promotions so I'll get -0- and my points-only promotions are targetedly (not really a word, but used to make a point) unbeneficial to me. bejacob, you were targeted for elite-night opportunities and are already LTT(?). That doesn't appear especially beneficial to you.
Oh well, carry on as best you can with what you're given!
Beneficial or not, that's the promo I got. While I don't need the extra nights for status, they will help me get to 75 nights. Then I can choose a second Annual Choice Benefit. Without the 13 nights from this promo, it's questionable whether I'd get there this year. Grabbing a free night certificate once I reach 75 nights will mean this promo did provide some benefit.
As for the summer promo (1500 points for every 2-night stay), I don't expect to earn anything on that one.
It’s an odd conundrum for me... My account shows 25 nights (of which, I think 10 - or is it 15? - are from the credit card), but I’ve stayed - just a guess here - maybe 75 nights? A lot more than 25, for sure.
15 annual credit card nights plus another 15 as a reward for converting from my old 1night/$3k spend marriott card. The other three are from spending before I switched cards. Another 15 nights already reserved and 2 more 1 night credits to spend before the end of the year. So will make Titanium for one more year. Didn't get the double night promotional offer.
59 all in bed .
Just 48 now. Will tip 75 easy though with heavy travel in the fall/winter. Trying to book about 10 nights worth right now but "Our server is being stubborn, please try again."
90 paid nights
91 nights as of June 30
91 nights- got 30 from a promotion.
I made 49 nights so far, I am going to the open championship next July at Royal St George's so imperative that I get to 75,
I am closing to 50 only
Including stays that haven't posted and bonus nights I'm at 205. Just nights in bed I'm at 104
42 nights as a leisure traveler
143 paid butt in bed nights. Another 17 credit card bonus. About 15K spend so far.
I'm at 67 paid and 23 credit card nights. I'm only at ~$7000 spend so I don't think I'll make the august Ambassador group, yet again. I don't know that I'll have any more for this year as work travel takes me to places where Hilton is waaaay cheaper than Marriott so I'm "stuck" at Hilton for months to come. Lucky I'm lifetime diamond there already...
I'm at 48 with 16 being promotional. So 32 nights stayed.
84 nights payed to date (July 1, 2019) with 55 more to go till Dec 31. The last time I went home, the dog bit me!
A similar question on the Facebook group for AA EP level flyers (100K miles per year)
One gentleman posted 425K miles in the 1st half. OMG
I'm missing 7 paid nights that should get posted this week bringing the total up to 178,
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
All hale the king!
I like the lifetime nights!
You must live in a Marriott...
Some years it feels like I do!
136 paid for $34,235 spend.....
78 nights so far this year ... I should at least double that number with nights booked already PLUS estimated nights for active projects I have. The remaining booked and estimated nights this year should be enough to get me to Ambassador, but not likely until Nov/Dec.
34 nights...all pleasure and own $$$.. the luxury of business travel and being paid for id done! I know I will get to 50 nights already well planned and then spread out with IHG & Hilton - both top tier...
22 nights as of this writing, with 5 more next month and 10 owed to me from an event some months ago...but I'm doubting I will get them. I may be able to Mattress run late this year if I ever get the last few nights.
Around 100 nights for me, if not more. I live in the hotels.
live in only Marriott hotels? or you spread the love around with $$$ to get multiple top tiers so your choices and options are awesome?
66 nights at he half way point. But I’ve only spent around $7500. I may make 100 nights but no way will I make the spend for Ambassador Level.
I'm currently at 64 nights with 2 more booked this week. (49 paid, 9 redemptions, 6 promotional -- 1 birthday and 5 elite night credits after reaching 50 nights). Leisure/non-business traveller here.
Interesting discussion. In general, there is a reasonably clear line between those that travel for business and those who don't. Looks like most of the leisure travelers top out around 50-60 nights at this point in the year. Mind you, that's pretty impressive for those traveling on their own dime, even when you factor in the bonus nights from credit cards or promos.
While I'm sure there are exceptions, I think it's pretty safe to say that anyone with over 100 nights at the halfway points is traveling for business. I suspect many of those close to 75 nights are as well. Regardless of who pays, I'm enjoying seeing the range of answers.
Another interesting question is “how much spend” have people done? hallchr said he’s spent about $34K whereas I’ve done almost $9K. LOL
the bigger question is - who 'spent' ? LOL.... your employer for business or your own pocket book?
its about 50\50....
Traveling for work is fun the first couple of years, but it becomes a grind. You often don't have a choice on where you have to work. An assignment in high rate places like Boston or San Francisco earns lots of points and makes being away from home worth it, but being stuck in a Fairfield Inn or Residence Inn in the Midwest for a year on a $79 a night corporate rate can be a different story.
My nights are 85/15 work/leisure, but my spend is about 70/30
I can attest to you that.. I spent 6 years on the road doing a major merger across the country (Canada) and it took a heavy toll on me..fortunately, they were all great hotels and I sent my staff to the remote 'inns"... LOL... but the major cities were awesome.... at that time, I stick to Fairmont hotels which were excellent....and the old Delta Hotels which eventually Marriott bought out
same boat here ... my spend - well my companies spend so far this year is $8,997. Only about $200 of that is personal spend :-)
As noted earlier, I have 4 nights next week in Newport Beach, CA and then somewhere north of 40-50 nights on projects that will require travel through the end of the year. I just might make Ambassador spend this year.
I'm gunning for Delta Platinum again this year too. This next trip from JFK to LAX will leave me about 2,000 miles short of Delta Gold. With ~6 months left this year, I should be able to notch at least 25K more Delta miles. I missed Platinum last year by about 10,000 miles ... too miles many for personal expense mileage runs.
Wow, glad I saw this. I thought they got rid of showing the $$ until I saw your post. So I had to poke around and finally found mine. Been a platinum for 15 years, lifetime for many maybe 9? But due to project being at middle of nowhere at a lower level hotel, reasonable rate, 2 hours drive from closest airport does not bring in enough corporate $$ to make Ambassador for me. Good luck, I hope you make it this year!
Just as a clarification, the $$ is only shown to me until it reaches the $20K spend threshold. After that, I cant see any spend after $20K.
I’m 50 paid, 15 promotion and 13 points paid for vacation. The paid is all work....can’t remember the last time I paid for a room on vacation. Always points.
France was a wasteland for Marriotts, but I managed to add 3 nights nonetheless. Going to Whitehorse in a month to spend over 2 weeks, but still no Marriott there. September/October back in France (Bourges), but still no Marriott within 240 km!
24 nights (incl. 15 credit card nights) so far. I could really use a double nights promo starting August.
Depends on who you ask, my profile overview page says 41, my profile activity page says 34.
one of the pages states how many nights to the next level and the other one states how many nights you have ACTUALLY stayed... it's a little confusing but...
87 nights so far.
82 nights so far, all stayed nights. No bonus nights.
Took some reward nights for a vacation (6 nights only) the rest are all for business.
My home away from home, Marriott. 1 more year and then I will be out of the every week trips! Was a fun journey when I started this in 2015. Brings 543 nights on my lifetime counter. (Age 35)
91 total nights, 74 real
Just Hit 59 with help from my Marriott CC. Fall will be heavy travel so I should hit 120+/- nights for the year.
I've enjoyed some really nice stays this year, some of which I actually paid for. As a leisure traveler with a somewhat modest budget, I relied on a credit card and an early promo to get me a few more elite night credits. Currently standing just one night shy of platinum qualifications. Fortunately, I have an unused 40K certificate from making it to Titanium last year!
I am not sure what "promotional" nights are
Did you have a Double Elite Nights Credit promo?
It sure looks that way. The 'doubled' night from that promo shows up as a "promotional" night.
