Hi all! My girlfriend and I are traveling to Cusco, Peru and was wondering if anyone had any experience at either of these hotels. We are in the process of picking one for our trip.
We stayed at the Palacio del inka last year and it was absolutely stunning. The JW looks awesome too. Either of them are fine. Do go to Laguna Humantay when you are there - its one of the best places to see in Peru.
Also while doing Machu Picchu spend the night at the Belmond Lodge - its worth spending the $1000+ a night for the location.
I'm also considering both of these hotels. did you learn anything more or make a decision?
I can answer this next spring, until then I am following... :-)
I got both hotels to waive the destination fee, so now I just need to pick the winner.
How did you arrange that ? Just call? Email ?
Sent emails. Community managers provided contact. It took two attempts with the JW but they waived it. The Palacio del Inka waived after the first email. Now I just have to decide which hotel.
I have no experience with the JW, but it looks quite nice. If I visit Cusco again, I'd definitely consider giving it a try. That being said... My wife and I stayed at Palacio del Inka last year prior to SPG/Marriott "harmonization" and were treated very well. Without exception, everyone we met was genuinely helpful and happy to share information about both the hotel and surrounding area. The location was perfect for visiting Qorikancha which I would consider one of those "must see" attractions in Cusco.
Hi all - After our visit to Cusco I wanted to write a quick review of the JW. We had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend a visit. The hotel itself is stunning with a beautiful courtyard as a centerpiece. We loved all the amenities that come with the destination fee such as cooking classes, pisco sour classes, live music and an alpaca available every day for you and your family to take pictures with free of charge. A big plus for us was also the proximity to the center square, we were able to walk to everywhere and was able to minimize the number of times we needed to take a cab. Service was also phenomenal, probably only second behind the Tamba Del Inka (which I highly recommend as well). Only gripe was we weren't able to use our suite nights during our stay, but even their normal rooms were great.
Overall a great experience and would love to visit again.
Thanks so much for looping back around and letting us all know how it went. Sounds like a great stay!
