Ho do I use Suite Night Awards for additional rooms? I have a room booked already but want to use my SNA for an additional room instead of an upgrade to a suite.
Suite Night Awards do not work that way.
Take at look at the Frequently Asked Questions | Marriott Bonvoy
It says the following: "A Suite Night Award is a one-night confirmable upgrade to a standard suite or select premium room, depending on the hotel’s availability of those rooms."
If you want to book an additional room, you would have to either book a standard cash reservation or use points to book an award stay. Suite Night Awards can only be used to upgrade an existing room not to add an additional room.
Per the terms and conditions, it makes it sound like you can:
(8) Suite Night Awards may not be transferred or given as a gift; however, a Member may use Suite Night Awards for additional rooms on his/her own stay as long as the Member is present for the stay and the other rooms are under the Member's name.
I see the confusion. SNAs are upgrade requests, not extra room requests. If you apply one to an existing reservation and the hotel grants it, you get an upgrade. If you already have more than room booked, you could apply SNAs to either (or both rooms). That is what is meant when it says the can be for "additional rooms."
Per the terms and conditions:
You are missing the first part of what you are quoting from the T&Cs:
A. Suite Night Awards may be redeemed for advance confirmable upgrades for select, premium rooms or standard suites on a per room, per night basis, subject to availability and the applicable terms and conditions set forth below for Suite Night Awards:
This means that "A." defines what suite night awards are, and all subsections (currently 1-12) break down the terms for what "A." defines. You can't just take the subheading and try to define it as the heading; everything in 1-12, including your selected "(8)" subheading are based on redeeming a suite night award "for advance confirmable upgrades [on rooms you have already booked via cash, points, certificates, points+certificates, or points+cash]..." under the account which has SNAs available for use.
Can only be used by you for your own personal use. A suite night is only a request for an upgrade absolutely nothing else!!!!
You can use it for an upgrade on any room you have booked even if its for your mom and kids in an adjoining room. The SNA is not good for a free night.
