Any recommendations on a hotel in Florence, Italy for seven people?
I am not certain of any major chains in the old part of Florence, which is where you want to be. We went about 5 years ago and my wife found a small place on trip adviser. Get to know the city first and then start looking at maps when you are making reservations. Wish I could give you the property name but I cannot recall it now.
I have stayed in the St Regis once a few years ago. It has been refurbished in the last few years. It was a fantastic old style hotel but absolutely mad money! I think there is an AC hotel there which is probably the cheapest Bongo hotel there. Fabulous place but don't go with an empty wallet. A coffee and a sandwich will cost 10 to 15 dollars!
I've only stayed at one hotel in the Bonvoy system, the AC Firenze, which is the cheapest and also the farthest from the historic center, which wasn't an issue. It's just inside of a mile from everything (you can take the tram from the hotel to the train station and vice versa if you want to...). I found walking to everything from there to be easy. I booked the breakfast rate, which was only 4 euros more than the regular rate. Nice room and bathroom. The other three properties, while pricey, are top notch and will treat you well, of that I feel certain. I've also stayed at a boutique hotel right in the city center, middle of everything... Great location, inexpensive, comfortable, hospitable, clean, free continental breakfast, a/c, charming, but decidedly not luxury. It was the Hotel Maxim, booked on booking.com or hotels.com... The historic center of Florence isn't that big, at least not to me.

I was in Florence in March, I stayed an Airbnb which was a studio apartment. I didn’t find any major chain hotels. I did tour the Hotel Pitti Palace at Ponte Vecchio, that would be my choice when I make my next trip. 4 stars hotel in Florence - Official Site - Pitti Palace Ponte Vecchio
I was in Florence last July and stayed here: B&B DELL'OLIO - Firenze, Italia Just around the corner from the Duomo. The owner was super friendly and the place was spotless.
I stayed here last September with a group of 6, but there is room for up to 8. GREAT location, super clean and very reasonably priced.
