Credit card pre-auth for incidentals

So, anyone has issues with Hotels and credit card pre-auth for incidentals? travelling extensively and holds on credit card sometimes wreaks havoc especially if you use one to gain more points/benefits. The inconsistency amongst hotel is bizarre - a little low level Four Points wants $150 per night while a classic higher end Marriott takes $30 per night incidentals. W in west Hollywood is $500 incidentals but at least they have it advertised. When I get bizarre amounts I ask " do you have a mini-bar, Van Gogh paintings in the rooms, restaurant on site with at least 1 Michelin star or Louise XVI chairs " and they stop in their track. So far, 8 hotels have lowered their incidental from whacked $100 per night to $50 (which I am OK with!).. I just wish they would focus on service and practicality than your credit card. (This is not a rant but a mere test to get some reaction to see if the issue is me! LOL)
