Any comments about the Renaissance at St. Louis airport? Reviews are mixed, and considering staying there next week for a wedding.
Last time I was there was 2016, so I don't know that my opinion will be very helpful. We found the hotel to be quite nice, attentive staff and clean, modern public areas. We were upgraded to a nice large junior suite even though we were staying at the base rate. I was platinum elite (75 night level) at the time.
I’ve never stayed there but unless you have a reason to be out by the airport I would stay downtown. There is not much out in the airport area. Downtown you can walk to a lot of restaurants, bars, etc.
I have stayed at the Renaissance three times. It is, indeed, a very nice hotel; but definitely agree with wannabe, that there isn't much to do there, so if you only want a nice room it would be fine. If you want to do other things than the wedding, I would agree with the downtown assessment.
Stayed at that Renaissance many times the night before an early flight out of STL. I highly recommend it. It’s clean and updated with a great bar/restaurant. By the way, Marriott at the St Louis airport was a total dump (might have since been renovated) and I had one of the most bizarre “service” experiences of my life there. At the Marriott I was “upgraded” AFTER I checked in and unpacked in my room. After a long day of meetings I returned to my room and the key didn’t work. Went to the front desk and they said because the upgraded me. I explained all my things are already in the other room. Went back to the room and someone else had clearly entered it. Let my Ambassador know and per usual with Marriott nothing happened.
