I spent 40+ nights in the Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Walton Beach spread across 14 different trips between November of 2018 and March of 2019. My mom, who lived in Fort Walton, had a series of cascading health problems and hospitalizations. During that time she went from independent living to assisted living to in-home hospice and passed away in mid March. The staff at the Fairfield were just fantastic throughout my whole journey. They extended a million small kindnesses to me to help make my stays more comfortable. Everyone greeted me by name and always asked how I was doing. If I could, I would nominate every person working the front desk at the Fairfield for a "spirit to serve" award. The one individual who stands out is Jeannie N, the front desk supervisor. Marriott properties are my preference when I travel for business, but the Fairfield in Shalimar is something special even by Marriott standards.
