Renaissance Paris Vendome Qs
- Did anyone stay there recently? What was your experience?
- Any particular rooms and/or side to avoid?
- For those who are Titanium Elite, what perks did you get? Did you get comped breakfast?
We used to live in Paris and get back quite often. The Renaissance Vendome has been our favorite location for Marriott(before Starwood merger). We are Lifetime Titanium. We have stayed at most of the other Marriott/Renaissance properties so we can compare. The Vendome underwent a renovation a year and a half ago, and we were able to stay there both before and after it was completed. Our last stay was the end of February last year(2018). The staff was great! They had a bottle of wine and sodas and snacks for the kids waiting for us in our room for our arrival gift. The rooms are very nice, even if they are small, but it is Paris! We actually had the kids with us, so we used points and Euros to secure a vey nice two bedroom suite....we have done this a couple of different times, and it has worked out great. The lobby and restaurant are very nice, and they have a large breakfast which is included for Titanium. In addition to the large buffet filled with all kinds of foods, they have a cook that will make eggs to order. I had eggs Benedict most days...delicious! There is also a small gym and small swimming pool in the basement, and candies and fresh water throughout the day in the lobby. They provided big umbrellas when it rained, too, which was very nice.
I must mention one strange thing(at least to me) in the remodeled rooms...the remodel bedroom included a large picture of a young female model’s face that is flat on the ceiling directly above the bed!!! She is looking down right at you! You can see a picture of what I am talking about if you look up the hotel on yelp. We had two rooms and both rooms had her on the ceiling. I personally am not a big fan of it, but I am sure there are those that are fine with it, otherwise it wouldn’t be there. But it is something new that was added in the remodel.
I’d also check out the Westin Vendome. I have heard they have beautiful suites overlooking Tuileries with a view of the Eiffel Tower. If you have suite night upgrades, I would try to use them there. And it is only a couple of blocks from the Renaissance, but it is directly across the street from Tuileries, so an even better location. But I haven’t stayed there, so I cannot give you any further information on it. There is a very old restaurant called Le Soufflet, which is close to both hotels, and it is a delicious experience! I highly recommend it...especially the GrandMarnier dessert Soufflet...they actually leave a whole bottle of Grand Mariner at the table for you to douse it with as you eat! ;-)
Have a wonderful time in Paris! We will be traveling there soon, too, but we are staying in an apartment this time...however, we are in the same area...we love it!
