Today is my birthday... is this gone ? I was so used to it...every night makes a difference...
First off, Happy Birthday!
I wondered the same thing earlier this month. In the past, Marriott would send out an email with birthday wishes and a link to click which would result in the 1 elite night credit added to your account. That didn't happen this year. While I was on the Bonvoy customer service line on an unrelated issue, I asked about it. Never got an actual answer on the phone, but the rep said she would investigate for me. A few days later, 1 promotional night mysteriously appeared in my account.
As a LT Titanium, I'm not really counting nights any more, but that extra night may come in handy if I hope to hit 50 or 75 nights and earn the annual choice award benefits.
No idea if the birthday emails are going out any more. I was able to get that one extra night credit by calling. I don't know if that is what is supposed to happen now or if the rep just did it out of kindness. For all I know, the birthday night credit is being eliminated and I just got lucky based on who ended up answering the phone.
Lots of things we once took for granted no longer seem to work the way they did in years past.
Thanks for the birthday wishes....Sadly I was hoping for the new JW Marriott in Edmonton to open and splurge in luxury but its date has been pushed back over a year!!!!.... I found another thread on here last year where the community managers did confirm it still is on and a link to send in a customer support request which I will do shortly. Every night count to keep that 50 nights- that's all I want form Marriott for that 4pm checkout and then I will give 30 nights to Hilton to maintain Diamond. Cheers!
I have had exactly the same experience (although I haven't sought out the 'kindness' yet). My feeling was that Rewards gave it and introducing Bonvoy was an excuse to stop doing so.
Never had under SPG so never missed! Could well be another of those little touches that make a programme better that have had a line drawn through it! Mediocrity here we come.
From Dec 2018: From our Community Managers: "All members can receive an elite night credit towards their status on or around their birthday if they have their birthday listed in their account, and they must be subscribed to receive emails from Marriott. If your account follows both of these actions, and your birthday has already passed this year, please fill out aCustomer Support with your information and we can look into this with our team."
Thanks... I meet all those criteria and receive tons of email from Marriott. The community managers are looking into it for me...Cheers...
So, I too was missing the birthday elite night. Tried to log on here (insiders) but the site was down for at least a week. So I messaged from the help site on the main page and after about two weeks got my birthday night. But, it was not an elite night credit, it was an actual free night for a room up to 30000 points. I was certainly happy to use it at I had a stay coming up that week for Orlando. Anybody else get this or was it just a fluke>
Birthday Free Night Award Good For Free Night Up To 30k Points
03/09/2019, Cancelled 0 Rewards
WOW!!! That is awesome.. I would rather yours than the 1 night elite credit... I could use that... did it state when you had to use it by ?
I did not see an expiration on the free birthday night but I did use it almost immediately. It was certainly a pleasant surprise.
Happy belated birthday. Mine is next week, and I will update group after my night appears. Fingers crossed for receiving the same "present" that Darrbee got.
Thanks... Yeah...happy pre-birthday to you too... yeah... the community managers were helpful and told me to wait until end of this week and then let them know.. but now I want that free night!!!! Maybe if I call the PLAT elite line they may oblige or does it differ? With IHG I get the free night...
Happy Belated Birthday, pat2927, and thanks for the heads-up! J's Birthday Free Night credit is missing, too, after his birthday last week. Sadly, J also did not receive the very wonderful Birthday Free Night Award Good For Free Night Up To 30k Points like darrbee. Usually he receives an email with a link to receive the credit. Will fill out aCustomer Support form as suggested by arizonatag and communitymanagers above and in 12/'18. Watching J's nights/points for 3-night stay to post as well, which is almost 10 days out - will fill out Missing Stay forms for this in several days. And then plan to call hotel/Bonvoy Customer Service to follow up on both of these like bejacob. So very grateful that 2 of the 5 night trip did post correctly! C
Thanks.... darrbee are you sure it was a free night award or was it through your credit card ? I just called the elite line and got my elite night credit added to my account - excellent interaction with an agent..... despite all the press buttons.. lolbut the supervisor says it has always been an elite night credit and no free night...hhhhmmmm...communitymanagers maybe you can clarify? Thanks all...
This is what it says on my reward statement;
I have always had an elite night, first time ever Birthday Free Night.
on a Marriott branded credit card or just your BonVoy account? WOW
Just on the Bonvoy account.
I sent a tweet about this and got this reply “Hello Marshall. The Birthday promotion would not be offered each year. When it is offered, you will receive an email with a link to register.” it’s very much like being told you’re not worthy
Is this the case
communitymanagers has something changed? Your post back in Feb 2019 indicated no changes....https://insiders.marriott.com/message/277752?commentID=277752#comment-277752
ripley62 I think this is another case of where most Marriott staff dont know anything and members sometimes know more than they do and then they make uneducated guesses! When I call the PLAT line, took the guy 5 minutes, check and then the credit happened on my account...
Thanks, I guess I should have brought it up on my last call. Well I have another case I need to call about anyway. I used a gift card for a night that bill was less than gift card amount. they could refund the credit difference at check out. My fault I switched payment methods at checkin. It just never ends
I haven’t had the chance to call yet but this us the reply tweeted by Marriott Bonvoy assist
“Hello again Marshall. Before the merger we did have a Birthday Promotion. However, currently only solicited Members will receive an email with an offer for one free Elite Night credit for the Elite Birthday Gift Promotion. Members must then register though the emailed link to receive the Elite Night credit. We hope this information helps. If there is anything else we can assist with please let us know.”
Nice I’m loving this. They rally really want to thin the herd of Titanium’s
Update, I did finally get a chance call the Ti Platinum line. 5 minute call, shortest in 6 months. CSR sent a note to Loyalty about it. We'll see but it’s a weekend now.
Thanks for the tag, we have not been made aware of any changes at this time.
Well Marriott Bonvoy Assist Twitter pretty clearly has told me, again today, that this is targeted night and if you don’t get the email about your birthday then you are not targeted and do not deserve a night credit. It certainly seemed it was never targeted in years past but a function of giving your email and agreeing to promotional emails.
Community managers come through again. Night posted.
I should've learned already Tweeting Marriott is useless
As a member of SPG and now Bonvoy for 12+ years, I have never had a free night for my birthday. Perhaps they are saving them up for me and will give me a free two week stay in a couple of years for my 70th birthday. One can but dream!
LOL...It's not a free night.. its an ELITE NIGHT CREDIT... someone here had said they got a free night but never was there a free night as far as I can tell but always 1 night credit to my stay to get me to that 50 nights threshold!
Elite night, free night, what the heck! Even a happy birthday would be nice!
As, go on Bri, since we’re friends an’ all - Happy Birthday pal!
(Adding wishes for “many more” is an extra fiver!)
