I am titanium elite and used points to book our stay.
That would depend on demand, for one. iahflyr or mustanggt May have some insight!
No clue other than to contact the resort directly ahead of time to see what they may be able to do for a special trip.
Hi johare, welcome to Insiders!
I stayed at that resort last year during the second week of December when the resort was very quiet. I had 3 rooms booked on points for 5 nights. I also used cash to upgrade to rooms with balcony and water view. I did NOT receive an upgrade upon check in on any of the 3 rooms. You are traveling there during a particularly busy vacation time. I know that all Massachusetts public schools, and many other states, use that week as their Spring vacation week. If you were traveling there for a day or two during a slow time frame you would stand a fair chance of scoring an upgrade. However, with a 5 day trip during a peak period your chances of an upgrade are low, in my opinion. If you really want an upgrade I would suggest you use some cash to combine with your points to reserve a better room. Alternatively, since you are Titanium you should have 5 SNAs to use. I would encourage you to use those to improve your odds of getting an upgrade (however, even SNAs aren't a guarantee). Good luck!
Regardless of the room type you wind up with you will absolutely love this resort. Trust me, there is so much to do you will be spending very little time in your room, except to sleep!
As the other replies said, I'm sure the hotel is fully booked for your stay. I have stayed at this hotel between Christmas and New Years the past 10+ years and have always been able to get a "upgrade" room, like a partial gulf/pool view. I have never received the truly upgraded rooms (i.e. gulf front or suites) even when using my SNAs during a short stay I had in mid February. With your status, I would at least call the hotel and ask for inside reservations and put a request in for a certain room/view, we always like the view towards Quinn's. In addition, we like being in the that tower which is closer to the check in desk.
All of the rooms are basically the same, it's just the view you get. The hotel/staff is great, we are never in our room except to sleep anyways!
Any difference to the rooms in the adult tower?
You have to book those rooms separately. You don't get upgraded to the rooms from a regular reservation. I have not been in those rooms, but I hear they are nicer and you have a private pool. You get a special coded bracelet that gets you into your room and dedicated adult areas. The rooms are obviously newer, but other than that I can't tell you much.
