Marriott vs. Hilton

I just recently signed up for the $450 credit card with Hilton to get Diamond status and was wondering for those of you who straddle between both programs if you could shed some light on the advantages of both travel plans.  I generally accrue a lot of points for work on the credit card and in turn use them for family travel.  I booked a ski trip for the upcoming winter 2019/2020.  The rooms over Christmas time for St. Regis Deer Valley were 60,000 points with 5th night free.  Net rate of 48k per night.  I looked on Hilton the nearest comparable hotel was the Waldorf Astoria in Park City.  Maybe I didn't read it correctly on the booking but it showed 501,000 points per night.

In comparison Marriott only generates 2 points per $1 spent but Hilton gets 3 per $1.  Even at the higher accrual its significantly higher to redeem for nights.  It appears Hilton redemption is based on the nightly cost of the room and the Marriott is based on which tier it is at.

For those of you who use both is it best to just use Hilton for the paid nights at the lower end places since I would have Diamond status from the credit card and be offered an upgrade?
