So thanks Marriott for staying true and getting my status updated to LTPP in Jan. Was there not mention of some kind of email notification in Jan also though? Did anyone get anything? Wonder if we’ll get anything in the mail like folks used to for hitting SPG plat. Was there a cool card or anything sent to too marriott elites prior to the merger?

My father is 87, much more computer literate than I give him credit for. He has been LTPE for a long time, I asked him if he wanted any help making sure that he was LTPPE before Bonvoy comes along. Just in case. He said that Marriott had emailed him and told him he was LTPPE. He showed it to me, they did. I am too, they did not email me. He had checked on the website and on the mobile app, that is when I found out he had a phone.
He said not that it mattered but he made Plat again last year on vacation travel, I sure hope I can do that at his age.
I can see why they stopped sending cards since everything is on your phone now with the app, but it would be nice if they added it to cobranded credit cards since the always include your membership number. It might be one more way the front desk staff might not forget to recognize your status - but I guess they don’t even ask for ccs any longer at arrival.
They send a physical plastic card available to Platinum and above by request.
Old timer LTP member here...and back in the day when I became a Lifetime Platinum, I got no recognition. I mean not even an email or letter. I believe it became a thing to show members trying to achieve the status.

Not a word from Marriott. I achieved LTPP in December after making an extra effort to book more stays - spent much more money than planned.10 Years Platinum, 755 nights, 2.4M points. Had a Marriott Insider not pointed out last week that their LT status was updated on their mobile app, I would not have noticed myself.
Can't say I am feeling overly appreciated, and I think Marriott has missed a real marketing/customer service opportunity to recognize some of their most loyal customers! Make us feel as though our commitment to their Brands is appreciated. Yes we have earned point, but these will burn much faster than they were earned.
So I now have reached the maximum level I am likely going to achieve. If my loyalty is not appreciated, if Marriott is indifferent, and I cannot earn a higher level, why shouldn'tI now focus on building my loyalty points with Hilton for my remaining working years?
Marriott, are you listening? Do you even care about your most loyal customers? How about at least showing a little appreciation!

Those are my thoughts exactly especially when it come to work travel. If you can find a challenge for example with whomever..Hilton/Hyatt etc...I did that a while back and Hyatt treated me really well with Diamond status and suite upgrades and I mean a big suite in DC just a block from Capital. I'm currently not traveling that much for work so I know I wouldn't make the nights for any challenges.

Don’t you guys think Marriott is likely to send out new status appreciation/congratulations in conjunction with its Bonvoy launch this month? I agree their execution has been flawed here, but I also think it’s unreasonable to expect formal recognition at the end/start of the year with the new program merely weeks away. I suspect you’ll find yourself with newly minted Titanium status emails, cards, mailers etc in the very near future. If that doesn’t happen, it will be but one more gaffe in a series of them since the merger announcement. I think they will get this part right though. We shall see.
I seriously doubt anything will come out as I believe there's way too many Lifetime members now for them to go that extra effort. I think by just recognizing the Lifetime status upon check or reservation and try to make the extra efforts to provide within reason what Lifetime guests requests would be fine with me.
I expect Marriott will send out some sort of email blast essentially saying "Welcome to Bonvoy. You're status is ______ in the new program. Here's what it gets you."
Hard to know whether they'll send anything by mail. Typically early in the year, I would receive something similar detailing my status for the coming year and what benefits are associated with that tier. Sending that this year makes sense especially with the change in the program name. What I don't expect is a physical membership card. I think the last time I got one of those in the mail was 2014.
Ha, ha ,ha! Miracles don't happen. Qualified for LTP before the merger in June. I had to ask for confirmation of my change of status and when I requested an SPG Metal card (just as a souvenir) I was told that they were no longer doing them or the Lifetime Bath Robe.
Lifetime SPG round here gets you bog all! In 2 weeks you will find that all your hard work and money to reach your goal will put you in Bonvoy's third lifetime level behind all the people who have been "grandfathered" in from non lifetime status in Marriott.
well 10 years and 750 nights got you in titanium / ltpp . I was one of the lucky ones that had invested in SPg and was going for lifetime plat so had 9 years of that and then 1 year I’d taken a marriott challenge and earned plat doing that, so for me it worked out perfect when they merged the programs and counted status and nights in both cumulatively. if I was just shy though and hadn’t had that 10th year or enough nights, I would likely share your sentiment though. It would be nice if we get something at some point even if we have to wait for Bonvoy to be released.
You should be OK for Titanium. I have 10years of Platinum, 12 years in total and achieved Lifetime Platinum with SPG last year. All of my nights were for leisure travel and in total amount to over 650 nights. All barring 4 were at SPG Hotels and had I been staying in standard Marriott Hotels my spend would probably have got me nearer to 1000 nights. As it is, because I only have 650 nights I will remain a Lifetime Platinum Bonvoy and therefore will go from a top level SPG member to a third class Bon Bon! I am already noticing a drop off in usual SPG Platinum benefits.( Suite upgrades becoming more basic,welcome bottles of wine and platters now almost disappeared etc). Old SPG Hotels that were firm favourites of mine leaving the programme as well. When I become a Platinum Lifetime Bon Bon I fear eventually I will end up with a view of the hotel bins and a bottle of bud and a bag of crisps as in my first Marriott Hotel Stay last year.
I despair at what Marriott is doing to my beloved SPG to such an extent that for the first time in 10+ years I now have only 1 stay left on the calendar for this year and that is On points to my favourite hotel in Fuertaventura. This hotel was pushed up from Cat 3 to Cat 5 so if I hadn't used my points in July last year to book it I could not have afforded it as I would have needed an extra 14000 points today. The customer service has gone to hell in a handcart and I am certain that many of the old SPG high status members have gone to pastures new and more welcoming.
