Merger = One Happy Family?

When I merged my accounts I was under the impression that I would receive a new member number that was from one new big family. But that wasn’t the case. I made the mistake of doing the merge on my SPG account. Why I did it there? It was the first place that I saw the link to do the merge. I had the SPG account because of ONE stay at a Starwood property. So now all my online accounts indicate that I am a SPG member. All the emails I receive now are sent to me as a SPG member. I tried to have my account changed, but was denied....advised that it couldn’t be done. Does anyone else feel that there are still two different companies working here?
