Has anyone made it to LTP under the new programme since the merger of the two programmes (i.e. post 18th Aug 2018).
It has been noted that the Platinum choice nights don't count as lifetime.
You need to stay 3 nights this years to get 10 years plat.
You need earn 5 more night beyond that at any time, since 600/10 is the ongoing qualification
No reason to force it since you will be Plat all next year anyways
I think you have to earn the status next year. I have been at 600+ nights and 9 years for some time now.
I hit 50 nights in September, and the 9 is stuck.... it did not change to 10. I was hoping it would, but it did not.
It is weird, but even though I earned the status for next year by hitting 50 night a few weeks ago, they appear to be treating it as status for this year and not advancing my lifetime counter. I could be surprised, but for now I am trying to scrounge up the remaining 90k points I need to hit 1.6 million. SPG Luxury AMEX will do the trick! Unfortunately, the 100k points that was transferred to me about a month ago, did not move the needle for my lifetime points. I have conflicting information on if it will be fixed during "true-up"
Keep me posted. I really would like to know if anyone has made status in the new system yet as well.
I am confused on the new program. I have 966 nights lifetime and only 8 years as Platinum....... I also believe that Marriott lost my points during the change in 1990. I did have 50 nights last year, and still no change.
I just sent an email to the insiders to help me get this sorted. The terms and conditions say that you only get credit for the year you earn in. For instance, if you had no status this year, and you hit the 50 night in September, your yearly status would change to Platinum. You would get credit for one year in the Lifetime counter. I assume that when Jan you would hit, you will be Platinum for the year of 2019, but you would not get another year of lifetime status...You get 16 months of the status (the remainder of cal year 18, plus cal year 19), but only one year of lifetime status. That makes perfect sense. You don't get double credit. I get that. I just don't know when you get the credit. Is it when you earn it in Sept mid year? Is it Jan 1 when you show up as being Platinum for cal year 19). In my case, I had lifetime count of 9 years at the "merger". In Sept when I passed 50 nights for cal year 18, was already at 9 lifetime, so it should have advanced to 10. This seems like a simple question, but I can't really figure out when the actual lifetime counter advances? At the time of achievement when you get it mid year or on the next cal year. I would love it if someone would manually advance my counter, then my race is over! I get some feedback from longtime insiders, that I should be good come Jan 1, the counter should advance, but I don't have any good feedback from the Marriott Rewards program itself.
Very good questions... also as I have had my new gold status from august 18th because of the joined accounts, will that status only be good for 4 months or 16 months(until the end of 2019)?
PS..i could have only joined in December and would only have my temporary gold status for 1 months if that's the case. I hope it includes the full year after the earned status?!
Here is what the answer was from the community managers to my question above:
"We have heard back from our team and they have let us know that some things, like Elite years, are not updated immediately as members earn them. The Elite year counter is most likely being updated on an annual basis. In the past, the annual updates have occurred around the middle of January, so it may take some time for an Elite year earned in the current year to reflect on your online account. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience."
Put another way, it appears that the lifetime number will move from 9 to 10 in January and I should live happily ever after as a Lifetime Platinum in the new program.....
The insiders just answered my follow up question.... I asked if they could review my account and verify if I in fact will have the required 10 years when January rolls around...I already have the 600 nights... They said yes, so all indications, I made it to LTP!
I have not heard back yet. That makes sense, in that I did not have any SPG years so mine would not have been "fixed" like yours was. I should be good to go in Jan when they update the years. Kind of a little anti-climactic, but it should be fine. Now I am trying to scrounge 5 more nights by the end of the year so I get get 75 for the year. I have a few stays booked, San Francisco, Monterey and Roseville CA that should get me there. I doubt I will be able to get to 75 nights again when they kill the credit card night earning and eliminate roll-over.
When I’ve stayed at a Marriott on NYE it’s always added to the old year and not the new
I made it LTP under the new program, my account updated Jan 3rd. Went from 9 years to 11, weird! I am topped out unless they somehow manage to open up another higher lifetime level someday. If I had another 1 to 2 years, I would have made it. This is the second time they adjusted the lifetime levels since I have been chasing them. I am happy to have the old gold/new platinum. I also made Platinum Premier Elite for this year with 75 nighs, so I hit all of my realistic goals. I never did get credit for the 100k points that was transferred to me from a family member, so I must have made it on the 600 nights/10 years for the new program. I finished the legacy quest with 1.53 million points and 633 nights.
Congratulations and well done.
I achieved LT Silver status in July, 2016. As a result of the merger, I qualified for LT Platinum status in August 2018.
Has anyone’s earned lifetime years advanced yet in 2019? I am still waiting for my platinum elite lifetime years to advance from 9 to 10. At the beginning of January, I saw my annual nights count drop back down to zero, and I’ve seen my lifetime nights counter continue to advance, but no movement to properly reflect my 10th year earned as Platinum Elite.
Yes, mine went from 9 to 11 on Jan 3rd. I was told most of the update occur mid January, mine just tallied early for some reason.
Oh that’s great to hear that there has been some update activity! I hope they update soon! Thanks!
I have a similar issue, sitting on 760 lifetime nights, 9 years of Platinum, but my lifetime status ‘needle’ hasn’t moved. Can the Community Managers help? Thanks!
This should happen sometime in January, there are many people in the same boat. A few people have even received emails that accounts are being reviewed and might not be updated until late February. My guess is that accounts will update over a few week period similar to the posting of the points for the 29 Ways to Win promo, but that's just my guess. For now, most accounts haven't updated, so we just patiently wait.
I was classified at LTPPE immediately after the merge in August (new program criteria). Still that status. I also made LTPPE in 2018 (old criteria).
