Does anyone know if Lifetime Platinum Plus stays can be transfered to spouse upon death?
Status not stays.
bluesman my understanding is that you can transfer points, but not status.
Here is the information you are looking for from the Terms & Conditions | SPG & Marriott Rewards
"In the event of a Member’s death, the Company may, in its sole discretion, allow unredeemed Points from the deceased Member’s Account to be transferred to a family member or a friend who is an active Member upon the Company’s receipt and review of all requested documentation and communications. Elite Membership Status, Lifetime Membership Status, and the related benefits, including, without limitation, Elite Night Credit, will not transfer to the recipient of the Points."
Do you (practically) need to transfer status? If i die, my wife has my credit card info and my marriott number and passwords and such. Clearly she can continue to book nights. and frequently she checks in to a hotel before i arrive and we never have a problem. can't she just continue to keep the account live? heck, couldn't my son continue it long after i have gone? what if i changed the name on the account before i pass? presumably marriott has a process for name changes (marriage, divorce, conversions, etc). could i just change my name on the account from Barney to BamBam and he continue the account forever?
Hmmm, now that I think about it, I should have named my son after me and then he could have inherited my LTPP status :-)
Maybe I'll get him to change his name.
I suppose if the wife has the credit card, she can pay for suites etc etc
