They are staying at Marriott Maui Ocean Club.
Ahhh Maui, incredible spot for sure and one we've been fortunate enough to visit many times over the years and we had a stay last September at the Ocean Club. Here is our review of the property for you to take a look at and a bit more.

There is much much more that I'm sure other Insiders will offer their advice/experiences on regarding Maui.
The drive from Kahului Airport (OGG) takes about 45-50 minutes to get to the resort. Beautiful drive along the west Maui Mountains and beaches. If they are getting a villa and have a kitchen shopping we've found TImes Market to be best which is about thee miles past the resort, but there is a Costco as well as Walmart just off the airport itself.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions and hope they have a splendid safe trip.
I second the sunset cruise - it was the most romantic thing I have done with my wife till now. If they have time do the sunset at Haleakalā crater - everyone does sunrise and it will be hard to do that considering the distance from the resort but pluto77 experienced it - its as good as the sunrise with not as much crowds.
The road to Hana trip is a day long trip which even though worth it can be tiring.
Thank you for the mention, ks83, however I have never set foot on Maui.. I did however enjoy nice views of Haleakala from Waimea on the Big Island. Maui sounds wonderful.
Sorry my bad. I remembered a post by someone who said sunset is as good as sunrise and thought it was you.
Plenty to do on Maui. Here's my trip report from 2015. It may give you a few ideas.

I can speak highly of a Sunrise Visit to Haleakala, having done it.
You can drive up there on your own, but you can also do a tour through many companies. The biggest advantage of the tour is that you don't have to be fully awake in the morning. The downside is your are on their timetable not yours. We went the tour route and we are glad we did it. The early (as early as 3:00 am depending on time or your and location) pickup can wipe you out, but we just turned the afternoon into a lounging by the seaside kind of day and it worked out.
Well worth it for us
Another great day trip is the Road to Hana, and a great way to finish it is to visit the above mentioned Mama's fish house.
For a first time a Lu'au is also a fun thing to do, the Old Lahaina Lu'au is a pretty good one on that Island
Great photo...wow! Oh I totally forgot about the Road to Hana, great catch bostonsportgeek!
Thanks iahflyr, had to play around a bit with that shot to get the halo effect, luckily with a large memory card you can just keep shooting.
That one was on a cold December morning, about 26F when we got there, 86F back the resort later.
If you really want the inside scoop on Maui, you need to read some of kharada46's posts like

There are plenty more.
Thanks for the shoutout bejacob and for posting all those links so I don't have to lol
Do keep in mind that if sunrise atop Haleakala is on your list, reservations are now required. This is to curb the insane overcrowding and environmental destruction we experienced during our sunrise adventure. Also worth noting is that, while open, Iao Valley State Park is recovering from a destructive "100-year flood." The Needle is visible, but I think the cultural sites might not be available anymore.
I went to Haleakala for the sunrise in February and it was amazing, but don't forget that it's considerably cold at the top prior to sunrise. It warms up quick, but I suggest a blanket if you don't have anything warm packed! Hiking into the crater was scenic and peaceful - so if you like that sort of thing - it's definitely worth getting up early.
Daily serving of Save Ice.
If they enjoy fine dining, I'd suggest Mama's Fish House. It is continually rated as one of the top restaurants in the entire US. Read their story on their website. The couple who started this fabulous restaurant are extraordinary travelers with a very unique history.
