It appears, at least initially, that Marriott's merger with SPG is starting to pay off.
An interesting article just surfaced about Marriott online. It begins: Two quarters into the current year, Marriott's global systemwide average daily rate (ADR) has improved nearly 2% to $161.42. Global systemwide occupancy has inched up more than one percentage point against the prior six months, to 73.1%. 4 Competitive Advantages Marriott International Wants Shareholders to Grasp -- The Motley Fool. Other highlights:
- New Loyalty Program includes over 110 million members
- Largest Inventory of hotel rooms globally with 466,000 rooms in the development pipeline
- Marriott's Luxury (Aspirational Destinations) generate 19% of gross fee revenue
- Booked revenue on Marriott's mobile apps and websites grew faster than booked revenue from OTAs
They'll have quite a bit of fun with all of this information in one gigantic database - so I imagine they'll be able to do a lot better in the years to come.
