Any word as to if there will be a Fall MegaBonus Promotion, if so what it may entail?
Nothing yet, but keep a watch out for it post-merger.
In most years, the Fall MegaBonus has begun on September 15 with an announcement showing up about 3 weeks beforehand. If that pattern holds true this year, expect to hear something before the end of August. Last year we didn't get word until the beginning of September.
I would love it to be three days early
Me too pey, I’ve a 3 night stay at the London Regents Park checkin 12/09, checkout 15/09!
Anything is possible. In 2017, we did have a start date of Sept 12, so keep your fingers crossed.
Any chance anyone has heard from their sources about the a Fall 2018 Megabonus or whether there will even be one? With the new program, are Megabonuses a thing of the past? Past SPG & Marriott had bonus programs in the Fall?
I'm sure those who are working hard towards meeting their next level for LT status by year end would appreciate (maybe counting on) another bonus program to get them to the finish line. We are too far away to meet the next LT status, but am still a bit anxious to know. Appreciate if anyone can share what they know. Thanks!
I still have not seen any info relative to any Fall 2018 Mega promotion.
Marriott - please, communicate one way or the other as to if you plan on offering the promotion.

Wow! That was fast! Care to share any of that mojo?
New fall promotion is LIVE!
2000 for every stay 2 or more nights +
1000 for each brand, starting with second brand
Glad to hear that there is progress on the Fall 2018 Megabonus. Just logged into reward account and it still says zero promotions. =(
Would you mind sharing a link or screenshot to understand the details?
Would you happen to know:
Just trying to figure out how to plan our stays to maximize on the Megabonus points.
Happy to post a screenshot!
Should be self-explanatory - if it's not showing for you, it will be soon! -- To answer your question, I believe you get the 2000 on every 2-night or more stay, including your first, and the bonus 1000 points for a new brand DOES NOT require a 2-night stay. (the 2000 bonus does, the 1000 for the new brand does not). However, if I'm wrong on the latter part, anyone is welcome to chime in.
Super helpful!!! Thanks so much for the extra effort and sharing. This is worthy of it's own post! Will keep an eye out for the promotion. Grazie!
(Part 2) I'll add this screenshot as well. What this says to me is ANY 2-night stay gets 2000 bonus points. And ANY brand, after the first one, gets 1000 bonus points each time you stay at a new brand, and you may even be able to get away with 1-night stays on those. In actuality, it's TWO different promotions in one! ;-)
Why is it I have yet to ever got an email about the Megabonus when it launches??? I always get from secondhand sources....
For me this is hands down the worst one yet. Most of my stays are either 1 night (no bonus) or anywhere from 3-7 nights (300-600 bonus per night). If I log say 90 nights over this promo period my bonus will more than likely be in the neighborhood of 35k max. If I really wanted to chase I could hit 50K I'm sure but it'd be a whole lotta work!
Maybe I'll kick it into overdrive and hotel hop. I could hit 15 brands and 90 nights is 45 stays so that's 105k bonus for being absolutely miserable this quarter. Thanks but no thanks....
This promo sounds like its straight from the SPG playbook only they forgot to multiply by 3 and give us "Marriott" level points! ;-)
I was expecting something about staying at different brands, but this is truly pitiful. I suppose the hope that the Fall Megabonus would be of great benefit to those of us "racing" for LTPP is dead.
I'll register and end up with a few thousand points. The real kicker is that I have 4 stays, including multiple brands, between 15SEP (the traditional start date) and 26SEP. Oh well.
A "MEGA" program should give MEGA value....only 2,000 points!!! HAHAHA its actually laughable when you add it all up - if you meet the requirements, and hotel hop each week, to a different hotel the max potential to earn is ridiculous when compared to the value the points get you!
Me - I stay 3 nights every week in a hotel - not much more. So with potential max of 16 weeks and NO brand hopping I get 32K points. .... essentially one night at a decent hotel! Laughable.
Of course all points help, so I will sign up, but I dont get the enthusiasm.
Thanks for the heads-up tuneman.
I was considering letting my Spire status at IHG lapse if this megabonus had been attractive, but it’s not, not at all. I reckon I’ll have about 5-10 one-night stays between 1st October and 31st December, and if I direct all my one-nighters to IHG, that’ll be enough to get me to Spire and with IHGs pretty lukewarm winter promo a total of 40,000 bonus points... or no bonus points from Marriott. No brainer! Marriott might get my 2-night stays, though there’ll only be one or two of them, but definitely not my 1-nighters, I’m going for IHG Spire again!
I'm debating whether to drop to IHG Platinum via credit card, or renew Ambassador as a Spire loophole. I don't stay at IC much, and the benefits there are diluted on award stays, but I understand renewing means 10% rebate on award stats plus the 10% for being a credit card holder.
I have few multiple night stays, and only need four more to hit 75 for the year. Somehow, I dread the idea of staying at a Moxy, but in the spirit of an obsessed Flyertalker I might consider it for the bonus points. The last multibrand bonus was a lump sum after the fact, so why break out new programming?
Is the f&b credit amenity now per night at full-service joints like Marriotts? For two nights I could see opting for that if so instead of the 1000 points, while getting the promo points (instead). CY and AC would be much more attractive waiving fewer amenity points.
Yes, that IHG Ambassador loophole can be a useful tool. As you say, the 10% redemption rebate on renewal is a bright spot. Alas, I’ve never stayed enough at ICs to justify paying for Ambassador, especially as on my very few IC stays I’ve been upgraded even as a lowly Spire. Step forward the Intercontinentals in Budapest, London O2 and LA Century City, jolly good chaps! Anyhow, as there’s no Marriott bonus for one-night stays (except 1000 per brand after the first) it’s an easy choice to divert all my single night stays to IHG and snag that Spire as IHG is paying double points and 6,600 for 2 brands, and Spire renewal comes with 25,000 points too!
Truly disappointing as the majority of my stays are just for 1 night. I do have one 3-night stay later this year, so that looks like 2,000 points. Might be able to fit in a couple more, but it's hard to know whether that would be worth it.
I wonder how the brand portion will work. Suppose I stay at 4 different brands, but only for one night each. Will I earn 3,000 points, or will only multi-night stays trigger that portion of the promotion?
Even worse, the terms say that bonus points will be awarded six weeks after the promotion ends, so that's not until Feb or March 2019. I hope that only applies to the brand portion otherwise those working to reach LT status under the legacy MR rules who were hoping to earn points this year from the fall MegaBonus will be out of luck.
One minor plus. It appears there is also a sweepstakes tied to this promotion during most of October. One prize is 500 MR points (odd of winning those are 1 in 2 and Marriott is giving away close to 2.5M of those as prizes). Currently the link to the rules isn't working, but maybe we'll learn more soon.
Glad to finally see some sort of promotion for the fall. Truly disappointed in what it turned out to be.
I've noted several times in the past that a promotion which is good for some isn't necessarily good for all. I'm sure some Insiders will do just fine with this one. It just doesn't work well for me. Some do, some don't.
I might consider a couple 2-night stays instead of my usual pattern of a different property every night. It's not going to change what I already have booked, but maybe I can plan ones I haven't locked int yet to take better advantage of this promo. Even so, the points aren't enough to make me try too hard.
Don't forget that if you decide on combining what would have been two single night stays and go with the 2 night stay, you get the 2,000 points, but miss out on the second Arrival Gift, so the benefit isn't as big of a deal as it appears.
Great point gatorlitigator. Breaking up a 4-night stay into two 2-nights ones would make sense, but combining two 1-night stays might not. Need to double-check the math first.
The posting time frame is another kick in the pants.
The points are low, but if they posted on the fly like last the last promo at least they would be useful for the "Race"
We will have to see what actually happens in practice.
At least I was able to sign up without issue ....
I'm hoping that only the brand bonus points are the ones that post after the fact. If the 2,000 points per stay post after each 2-night stay, that will help some. Not much (at least for me), but better than having to wait.
Other than the term "Mega" tied to this lame bonus, why did us Insiders not get any advance info on this as we have in the past? Why not communitymanagers, did you guys not know in advance of it either or what happened....not even a sneak preview???????
Surprisingly there's no mention yet on either FlyerTalk Marriott or FlyerTalk Starwood (as of this post), so apparently Bloggers didn't know either.
That's the Marriott way -
discuss Hotel Reviews contest clogging up Insiders...we remove Reviews
discuss Cat. 1-5's not offering aspirational stays....we remove Certificates
discuss Bloggers always hearing first over Insiders - we tell no one!
Oh yeah baby, this ain't your 20th Century Marriott - this is the Soup Nazi Rewards program

Still have the Happy 20th birthday with THAT quote on my wall! :-)
I found a thread about it in the FT Marriott Forum earlier today, before logging in here. Most folks are not at all pleased.
Good catch, I couldn't find that until today -
Whew, you're right, hair on fire over there with our traveling mates.
They could use some love. Jump over there globaltreker and remind them that it's a Great Day to Be Alive
The world has so many negative people in it that its easy for me to carry on and enjoy the time I have with my family. I really don't understand the psychology or love behind all these brand bashers. Dark Insiders for sure.
I also love it when Dark Insiders use their same user name across numerous media outlets leaving their easily verifiable digital "copy/paste" bread crumbs littered amongst the virtual ionosphere. They are easy to track and are so vocal that they even give away their digital identities, home addresses, vacation homes, work locations, children's names, colleges attended, credit histories, favorite restaurants, electronic transactions, and legal affairs to name a few.
All kidding aside, I love the new 2018 fall mega bonus promotion. Free points, what's not to love about it?
Well, while I'm off getting my free points (thanks Marriott!), I'm sure the MR Dark Insiders will be feverishly plotting how to post their next conspiracy theories on how this promotion is a way to get back at all those legacy SPG members for brand bashing and the now infamous draconian rewards redemption tables.
Lets pray for all those in the line of fire from Hurricane Florence today. Stay safe!
Good response per usual and certainly with what's going on with the east coast, it's important to keep everything in perspective. Whereas I, throughout the years here on Insiders, share your general optimism, I must admit I would enjoy the spectacle of the 'it's better than a stick in the eye' (true) over there with that pack of battle weary travel veterans .
Speaking of digital identities, as a tech troglodyte, I've always been fascinated when pros like yourself, vaboy, and a handful of others post your blogs with apparently your real names attached. Is that a Jive bug or is that by design of the bloggers?
Jive issue was reported eons ago but not getting any traction these days.
thanks for the chuckle :-)
I gotta see how this one is going to shake out for me. Started a new position with my company and I'll still be raking in lots of nights, but being able to convert those into efficient two-night stays may be more difficult than my hotel hopping in the past. We'll see, but definitely won't be able to get started on this till mid-October after we move. Just remember: it's better than nothing!
Anyone see a cap/ceiling on points allowed for the 2,000 per 2 night stay part? A little creative stay pattern could net some big totals. Gotto go check this out.
Interesting. I don't see a cap noted and I often stay Mon - Friday for work. I have both the week of 9/17 and 9/24 out of town staying four nights each week. Wonder if I can split each week into two stays lol.
That might not help you since the promotion doesn't begin until 9/26. However that strategy could be beneficial if your stay pattern continues beyond the end of September.
Well great so on the 23rd I have one night, too early and does it take a 2 night to be the first stay? Then a number of one nights until Nov. when I’ll have a 3 night stay, then back to a few one nights in Dec. looks like I might get nothing.
What behavior are are they trying to incentives, if there’s a choice between two different hotels of different brands there going to have to be identical for me to alter my choice over 1000 Marriott points. Now if points still mattered for lifetime that might be a little edge. The 2000 is better than this spring, oh wait it takes a 2 night stay. In my best Rosan, Rosanna Dana voice - never mind
Well at least we've got three two night stays at three different brands plus a single night at a fourth brand on the books as of right now so actually might get some added points from this non-heads up promo.
Hmm, I was hoping for a 15 to 20K lift towards legacy lifetime. it looks set up to exclude that with the pay out later next year. Oh well.
Does the brand hopping also require 2 nights stays or do you just have to collect the brand?
Maybe, maybe not. I'm hoping that the 2,000 points associated with each 2-night (or longer) stay will post with the stay, and that only the additional brand bonus points are delayed. Guess we'll find out as soon as someone completes a 2-night stay after the promo begins. It might still be possible to pick up some points before the end of the year.
I'm wondering about the brand points as well. I've got several 1-night stays at different brands, so I'm hoping those count. Like everything else Marriott does, the wording is vague so it's hard to know.
bejacob I believe your suspicion will most likely be correct. That being, the 2-night stay bonuses will post immediately (in separate line, as before), and the brand stays will be collective and post later. In fact, I called about the former, and they confirmed, but they could not confirm the latter, so it's best to assume the worse, and celebrate if it posts faster.
** The reason I believe that the brand stays include 1-nighters is the way it's written in the details:
Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards (“Loyalty Program”) members who register for this promotion by January 7, 2019 will earn 2,000 bonus points per stay on stays of 2 or more nights at participating brands. Plus, members can earn an additional 1,000 bonus points per brand starting with the second brand at which the member stays during the promotion earning period.
Those are two different sentences. If I were a lawyer, I'd bet on that fact. (However, I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, ha ha).
This may not be bountiful Megabonus, but it offers 3 strategies:
1. Points for any stay of 2 nights+ (Good for longer stays)
2. Points for any brand (past 1st) (Good for 1-nighters)
3. Points to begin 2019 accumulation (for Jan. Stays) (Good to get a head start on `19 Elite count, if you need it)
I actually think Marriott thought this one out to please everyone.
Yep, not a lot of points, but the opportunity is there! :-)
Hope your right. I'll make the best of it whatever happens. If I can plan 2 or 3 more 2-night stays, I could come up with 10-15k once the brand points kick in. Not a lot, but better than nothing.
I'm waiting to find out the details on the 29 Ways sweepstakes that is mentioned at the bottom of the T&C for this promo. It looks like there could be an opportunity to earn some additional points during the month of October (no purchase necessary). Links from Marriott don't seem to work yet, but it being mentioned on a couple of the travel blogs already.
UPDATE: Rules for the sweepstakes are here: Official Rules
Looks like it might be possible to win 50-20,000 points per day during most of October as well as being entered into the drawing for free stays.
Daily points prizes and odds of winning.
Well let's see since I won all of about 100 stars in the Starbucks summer promo, I'm pretty sure I'm a shoe in to win 20k a day at least ............ never. LOL! If someone were really lucky the 29 Ways could make a nice dent in the race to LTPP.
It would be funny if all 100 Million reward members logged over a short period every day, maybe Marriott are Load testing their systems!!
They clearly wouldn't make there estimated odd of winning number then ....
The assumes like under 200,000 per day playing
Here a little bummer buried in the rules
Limit one (1) Instant Win Prize per person
So once you get that 50 points your done ....
Curious. There is a limit of one entry per day, but a limit of one instant win per person. Does that mean if you win an instant win prize on day 1, you're done? It would make more sense it said "limit one instant win prize per day." Guess we'll have to see how it works starting October 4.
Looks to me like a snag with the wording there. Though I did feel this competition left lots of questions. Some people could get really lucky and end up winning say:
Day 1 50
Dat 2 500
Day 3 weekend break
Day 4 20,000
Day 5 10,000
Ok, so such a scenario is unlikely but I doubt Marriott would want its bigger daily prizes falling into the same hands day after day, so a one prize rule for the entire competition *could* work, however that would mean virtually no-one would be eligible for the final grand prize since its fair to assume over the 29 days virtually everyone will have won something, even if that’s far more likely to be just 50 points! And statistically the chance of the above scenario occurring is minuscule, way lower than lotto jackpot territory!
I expect that rule to be tweaked to daily
But the wording says 1 instant win, not 1 total, so you can win 50 points on day 1 and still win the drawn prize.
I hope it changes, the mostly like change would be you could win points more than once, but win 1 instant stay prize.
But I doubt it since the 90% of the maximum prize value come from the daily points (they expected total payout from the 50 point prizes is $978,000 alone)
Also the 1:2 odds aren't per day, they are over the course of the promotion, there are effectively 2,175,000 of the 50 point prize over the course of the contest, with a max of 75,000 per day
There are 2,422,283 total instant win prizes, with an effective net odds of just under 2:1 over the whole 29 days.
This one sucks for me. Win some lose some etc. Oh well.
Right with you wannabetitanium. I'd do okay if 1-night stays counted, but this one won't help me much. As you say, win some, lose some.
You might win the competition that runs along side
One (1) Grand Prize of twenty-nine (29) 2-night stays at each of the 29 brands of $30,596.80USD maximum value (odds 1: 4,500,000); Eighty-seven (87) 4-night stays of $3,060USD maximum value each (odds 1:52,000); Two million, four hundred and twenty-one thousand and five hundred (2,421,500) Point Wins of $180USD maximum value each (odds 1:2). For complete Official Rules, prize values and eligibility, visit www.Marriott.co.uk/29Ways. Sponsor: Marriott International, I
Not to sound ungrateful but that grand prize might be quite the headache to try and use for ones leisure travel!
I'd be willing to have a go at it.
Well if you win it platlife, you can always hand it over to me, believe me, I’ll make good use of the 29 Free weekends!
Thanks for the second chuckle of the day...and on this thread!
Well since you were first if I can't use them all I'll look you up since you've now called dibbs!
But if they give me a 1099 come april you've gotta pay you're share to the tax man! ;-)
Good news, the grand prize includes a $7,000 check towards the tax, so you’re free to give, give, give to me - tax paid!
Ha! Score one for the good guys! Unless I have to pay tax on the tax check!

No, just a bunch of dead links...
Like you, AzzTag (not tagging, all today’s tags got referred for moderation) just a bunch of dead links. Like the Hallman below (also not tagged for same reason) I reckon it’s a daily entry sweepstake. We’ll find out soon enough...
You missed my earlier post linking to the details
You’re right, I did miss it, I’ve got so used to the dead links.
So it’s 29 consecutive days starting 4 October where you log into your account, play a memory game and if correct you then randomly get chosen as a winner, or not - its a straight 50/50 chance, toss of a coin. If you’re a winner then you’re instantly assigned a prize. Daily there are 3 instant wins for a 4-night points voucher valid at the hotel brand of the day, then there’s 8,500 other daily prizes between 500 points (5000 daily) and 20,000 points (16 daily) to be awarded. All the remailing winners receive 50 points.
Finally there’ll be a grand sweepstake of all the entries at the end of the competition for the first prize, 29 two-night breaks at every one of Marriotts 29 brands.
Interesting concept. I’ll play daily, even though I may only end up with 500 points for my travails!
Well. I, for one, would like to see you win something. It'd be neat to have another "Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner" post!
think its just a random draw...
Alexa, set a daily reminder for 29 ways to stay.
The fun will begin on October 4, 2018 with more details to come. The links are not fully loaded or live so please come back and check as the time gets closer!
(rle … thanks for the heads up, the 18 brands has been updated to 29)
The Community Managers
But I don't WANT to stay at a Moxy (though their community ironing sounds interesting). Here's what I'd like to know:
Are single night stays OK for the multi-brand aspect of the promotion? Is it 28 brands (28,000 maximum points) as the first (ineligible) brand of the promotion period is unavailable for credit later?
That's certainly how I read it. If that's not what they meant, then they certainly should have worded it differently.
Another interesting point is that there is nothing to indicate differenttreatment between paid stays and reward redemptions. Even their definition of "Stay" includes points stays.
gatorlitigator wrote: Another interesting point is that there is nothing to indicate differenttreatment between paid stays and reward redemptions. Even their definition of "Stay" includes points stays.
No. Look a little farther into the T&C and you'll find this.
"...nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points."
Same as every other MegaBonus, only paid stays count.
bejacob, you could have at least waited a little longer to pop my bubble.
Sorry. It's easy to miss, but it's better to catch it now before anyone starts booking points stays thinking they'll count.
Nowhere it says "paid stays" as they usually wrote in past promos. So does that mean the promo works even with stays paid with points or free night certificates ?
marr4life, please read my response above.
