Any tips for the JW in Venice Italy.
Stayed there last year. Beautiful hotel on its own island. If you are touring Venice, you will need to take the boat shuttle from the hotel to St. Marks Square. The shuttle stop is right in the square area. Last years, we took the Alilaguna public boat (like a metro, your cost about 15 Euros per person) from the airport to St. Marks Square (took about an hour from the airport) and fortunately the JW boat shuttle is very close by. You can also do a private shuttle (your cost) to take you from the airport to the hotel. The shuttle service runs about every half hours from the hotel and St. Marks Square. You have to build this time in whenever you need to go into St. Marks Square (and Venice in general). We did not get upgraded and I do not believe there is an executive lounge. We did eat the downstairs lounge area and staff was very cordial. On the island there are a few restaurants (we did not eat at any them) and I believe they were on the high side. How long are you staying there? If you need any suggestions let me know.
We booked a deluxe room in the main building. One night on points, the other night cash. We were given the choice of an upgrade to a room with a water view or a junior suite with garden view in the main hotel, but not one of the Uliveto, Residenza or Mansionette rooms. We did ask for an upgrade. It was busy when we were there. So what I'm saying is that upgrades are possible, if not probable, depending on occupancy. There is no complimentary breakfast or CL. The rooftop pool is very small and fills up fast, but there is a garden pool that's a bit larger. Do dine outside at the rooftop restaurant at least one night. It's memorable. The Alilaguna boats only run between about 8am and 11pm, so if you're flying in or out early, you'll have to book a water taxi, €140 each way. We enjoyed taking advantage of the complimentary boat shuttle and glass factory tour to Murano that is offered through the hotel. I really enjoy being on the water, so loved the fact that the location necessitated taking a boat to/from Venice proper. JW Marriott Venice Shuttle Boat - YouTube
Staying at the JW Venice was one of my most memorable stays to date. It was wonderful. I'd love to go again someday. You've made a good choice!
I have a couple of documents that I received from the hotel in 2016, which I am attaching. Some info may be dated, but I think you will find the information helpful.
Also, some helpful emails:
They were really helpful and responsive to my emails.
