We are planning a trip to South Africa in 2019. When is the best time to go?
I have gone on safari in South Africa three time, always in September, which is the recommended best time to Safari there.
Just google "the best time to visit South Africa" and will confirm the best time to visit!!
Totally depends on what you want to do. IF you want safaris, this time of the year since the grasses are not hiding as many animals. You also don't need a malaria shot if you travel in their winter. 1 safari at Kruger NP, I saw the Big 5 in one morning as well as 2 endangered species...that was in June.
What experiences and places to you have in mind? We went in June two years ago and loved it!
For whale watching and safari, I would aim for winter months (about June–September). It's also a great time for surfing if you are into this kind of activities.
Summer months are great if you want to enjoy the beaches and see the amusing Army of ducks. Responsible travel suggests that December to February are the best time to be in Cape Town area, while the eastern parts of the country "enjoy" rain showers.
Hunting is better in Winter. Also, wine country is good during this timeframe.
