Heading to DC in June. Usually stay at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. With the SPG merger, I was wanting try potentially give somewhere else a try.
For this trip a good gym and breakfast are most important to me.
There are so many Marriott properties that would fit your bill However many offer Gym and breakfast. Do you want metro access, will you rent a car? Are you looking to use points - many variables— which airport will you fly Into.
wetravel2 many thanks for the quick reply.
Will fly into IAD (coming from Europe). Will be on the gov't rate. Will just use the metro to get to the Pentagon.
all good info. we live here just 20 minutes from DC
I will get back to you soon. Perhaps others also have good suggestions. Many are coming here for double TIPPLE this weekend and staying at Arlington Renassiance Cap View. We will stay there too but I prefer hotels in DC - yet we will only be across the river and not far
The Gateway is always a good option and has a great newly upgraded lounge and breakfast with omelettes made to order. i usually stay at the Renaissance on 999 9th street which is 2 blocks from the Gallery Place Metro on the yellow line. Lots of dining and shopping in walking distance. Good recently renovated concierge lounge with a standard breakfast: scrambled eggs, rotating hot dish of bacon, ham, biscuits, french toast; berries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, croissants, meats and cheeses, smoked salmon. Coffee machine that runs out all the time so I use the big vat of coffee. There is a lot of construction going on around there at the moment though - the Carnegie Library renovation and the building across the alley so it can be disruptive. You do get access to the Vida gym on the 3rd floor.
There is a Residence Inn over near the Wharf area. That is on the water and has lots of bars and music venues. There may be other options at the Wharf itself but I only know of a Hilton. That said, if you took the metro to L'Enfant from Arlington there is a free bus to take you to the wharf. There's a cantina that has these great margarita's and you watch the boats and listen to mariachi music. Fun place!
There's a Courtyard above a Gordon Biersch Brewery also near Gallery Place metro. It's okay. No breakfast or concierge lounge but they have a pool, as does the JW Marriott which has a small lounge but good offerings. Nearest metro there is probably Gov't Triangle so not direct to Arlington.
I have never stayed at any of the SPGs but hope to start exploring myself soon!
