I just purchased a time share in the Atlantis Harborside Villas and want to know if I can use my time in all Marriott and Starwood hotels and all Marriott locations. Any limitations I should know about?
Lots of limitations...check the timeshare T&Cs for details. communitymanagers can point you in the right direction for additional information about Marriott Time Shares. We don't normally discuss those on the Insiders forum.
I was once looking to timeshare, but stopped when knowing there are lots of limitations as my work schedule really does not leave too much foreseeable vacation time. But I am sure there are insiders who have good experiences with the time share purchase.
The Atlantis Harborside Villas are part of Ventana which was spun off from the Starwood timeshares. I am assuming you purchased StarOptions (points). These can be converted to points that can be used in Starwood hotels, but I doubt that they can be swapped for Marriott hotels. I own both Marriott and Ventana (Starwood) timeshares. I can, and have many times, convert my Marriott time shares into Marriott Reward Points that I can then convert to SPG points that I can use at any Starwood hotel. As a Ventana owner I have yet to find out what is going to happen with access to the Starwood hotels once they are rolled into Marriott. In hindsite, I should have purcahsed more Marriott timeshares instead of investing in Starwood timeshares, but that was before Starwood spun of the timeshares and Marriott purchased Starwood.
This is a great question for the forum as many Insiders have a lot of information about the Marriott timeshares. As arizonatag mentioned we can also recommend that you reference their website Marriott Vacation Club | Vacation Ownership Timeshare or contact SPG.
