I am a Platinum Elite and have been received the automatic United MileagePlus Premier Silver Status. Today when I logged into United I am listed as "member". Did this program end? Somewhere I saw through January 31st, 2018.
No, the program is still active. Several of us have already noticed our UA Silver status extended until 1/31/2019. Hey communitymanagers, who is best able to handle this issue, United or Marriott?

If you have already done this with no success, please feel free to send us a Customer Support request and include your United Airlines number and we can look in to this for you!

I just had a very similar problem -- as I posted yesterday. When I made a flight reservation I was Silver, when I checked in for the flight, that status was incorrectly dropped. Was quite disappointed in the responses from both Marriott and United about this -- contradicted each other, no real explanation why it happened, how it could have been prevented -- a real run around. Seems like linking these programs so this runs smoothly should not be remotely difficult. All-in-all, it has been a disappointing experience for a new Platinum member to encounter.
Anyone else had a problem getting dropped from United Silver Status?
Seems United Silver is no Longer available for Lowly BonVoy Platinum's.

When you take into account how the elite levels changed, United Silver was never available to folks who are Bonvoy Platinum members. In the old program the equivalent level to Bonvoy Platinum was Gold. Only those members who reached 75 nights (old Platinum, now Titanium) got United Silver. So to say that United Silver is no longer available to Bonvoy Platimums is not correct.
Thanks for the clarification. Makes the decision easier on whether or not to pursue titanium.
I just tried to set this again. I was told that as a Platinum for life member I am not eligible now. I was and things changed. They keep slowly eroding the value of their program and the loyalty to their customers. Time to look for alternatives.
