Taste of Gold - Poor Communication

I had been a Gold elite member for the past several years but did not maintain my status this year and was downgraded to silver.  However I was given a "taste of gold" opportunity earlier in the year without my knowledge.  It was never communicated to me via email or phone that I received this opportunity, I was never given a chance to opt in or out of it.  Had I known, I would have been able to plan enough stays to earn my Gold status back. 


When I have called customer service about this they were extremely unhelpful and simply said they have nothing to do with online promotions and cannot give me that option again.  I'd really like the opportunity to use that promotion again as I have several stays coming up in the near future and really enjoy the benefits of Gold elite over Silver.  Is there any way to get a "taste of gold" challenge again and not just a normal challenge where Gold status isn't awarded ahead of time?
