Marriott's culinary delights in full view, and I had them all several times, not hundreds of times!
No doubt today they have AI or robots testing their food products (how else do you explain Fresh Bites?) but back in the day, HQ employees were the test market for new and slightly altered Marriott food items. Marriott had color coded recipe cards for every item; my wife used to have a set, since she worked in the food science department - if we still had those, I'd be able to stay at the Ritz with Clebert and Shoeman with an occasional visit to a St. Regis to see the professor .
As a young guy on a tight budget, I was an ideal guinea pig for 'food test Wednesday'. I hold Marriott accountable for my wacky eating habits today (hey Whitney, how 'bout tossing some pain and suffering points my way?).
I tossed down way too many Hot Fudge Ice Cream Cakes (this one was from Bob's Big Boy), Teen Twists classic Marriott burger(both originally from Hot Shoppes) the Pappy Parker's fried chicken, roast beef sandwiches, and the famous Double R burger from Roy Rogers and that was before we even dove into the hotel samplings featuring haute cuisine offerings (quiche was big back then ).
Thank you Marriott for the astronomical, gastronomical good times
As Orson Welles often said to himself, "I will eat all food when it's time," and then uttered "rosebud"
