Is there a Marriott Rewards Credit Card for Canadians and how do I find the information about it?
Not anymore. Chase used to offer but chase canada credit card business was bought by scotia bank. They might offer something in the future but as of now you cannot apply for canadian marriott visa card.
Yeah unfortunately they stopped taking apps on September 5th as it looks like Chase is getting closer to exiting from Canada completely. I imagine existing cardholders will be transitioned in the future (ScotiaBank is my first guess), I'm hoping another financial institution will pick-up the Marriott platform, but I don't have my hopes too high.
There are still a couple other cards you can consider though for indirect privileges:
This card was always the better than the Marriott Visa for pure earning potential. This is because of the 1:3 conversion ratio from SPG to Marriott Points. Especially if you're planning on making this your primary card. You don’t get the free anniversary night or automatic Silver / 15 nights / year, but it’s still an amazing card for earning points. My biggest issue with it is that AMEX still isn’t as broadly accepted as MC & Visa in Canada.
This card is for the Elite, it is really for a different tier of cardholder as it comes with a hefty $699 annual fee! This card comes with a SLEW of benefits, including a fantastic points and airport lounge program, but to speak specifically to Hotel benefits you automatically get the following:
Gold Preferred membership in the Starwood Preferred Guest program.
Because you automatically get Gold Preferred you can status match to Marriott Gold which is even more valuable.
At Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, after charging five nights to your Platinum Card, you can become eligible for Fairmont President's Club Platinum Membership.
Gold Elite status membership with Club Carlson.
Hilton HHonors Gold Status membership.
Thus this card is the ultimate choice for flexibility across multiple hotel platforms.
