expired miles with no advance warning/email

I hope someone can hep me, my marriott miles (140k ) have expired and I don't recall any warnings about this, otherwise i would simply have made a transaction to keep my account miles live.  I have called marriott rewards programme telephone number and someone advised me they would look into having my miles credited back, but i have not heard back and its been a week now.

I did plan to use my miles on holiday this week and its been very inconvenient that these were not available for to use as planned, so any help is appreciated.
