And how do we get it?
It is an unpublished status with unknown criteria, but there are guesses to what things get you Platinum Premiere status - have a look at these posts for various discussions on this:

I am a Platinum Premier and have been for 2 years running now Best I can guess it is because I have over 125 nights travel per year and often have to pay full rates at hotels because I book most travel so last minute I am not able to get my corporate rate Some nights I end up paying over $300 for a hotel I can get at $99 with the company rate but because I often book same day travel the quota for corporate rate rooms is already filled Unfortunately because most of my travel is for business and my company card is not a Marriott card I lose out on earning all those "extra" points!
I have not seen any difference in being "Premier" vs just Platinum I am recognized only as Platinum level upon most check-ins
Here is the reply I got ftom a Marriott official a few days ago...
As far as Platinum Premier status is concerned, at the beginning of each year, our system determines which members are in the top three percent of travelers based on the number of stays and revenue and they are designated Platinum Premiere Status. This is a completely systematic determination and no associate within the Marriott Corporation can upgrade a Marriott Rewards Member to Platinum Premiere manually.
The benefits of Platinum Premier are the same as Platinum Elite but with the following additional services:
* Dedicated phone line and dedicated e-mail address for assistance with the following services:
* Booking hotel reservations
* Booking rewards redemption stays
* Coordinating partner rewards member may choose
* Assist with any inquiries regarding their Loyalty Rewards account
* Platinum Premier Gift which varies from year to year; last year being a leather charging cord organizer
Fascinating that the Marriott official actually spelled Premier wrong twice.
That's like a burnt out R on the hotel sign (as in, how is that missed?). Wow.
Their boilerplate response leaves a lot to be desired also (but at least they made the courteous effort).
Systematic just means according to a fixed plan - it could well be fixed that any official can determine who is in this years Top 3%. We have seen folks with more nights than some Premiers not earn the status, as well as we have seen some folks with huge annual spends larger than other Premiers not earn the status which lead us to speculate it was either a rolling average, a 'systematic' Russian diving judge decision, or some combination of both. Their system of choosing is somewhat like their "30% off" offers (off of what? - that number is seldom disclosed or discovered).
Anyway, thanks for inquiring and sharing - it's insightful.
erc, the mis(s)pelling isn't as concerning as them leaving out the one tangible 'additional service' differing from Platinum: UA Gold status!
