We stayed one night at the very new Fairfield Marriott in Kathmandu after a trek. The hotel is very well located in Thamel (the city's tourist hub) and very modern with a few Nepali touches. It's really the best Fairfield I've been to.
WiFi and aircon work great, bed (while not the Marriott bed) and pillows are very comfortable, and service is great too. Room and bathroom, while small, were very functional, and the shower water pressure was really great.
As Gold status, we had complimentary buffet breakfast and also they filled the minibar with complimentary items: Budweiser beer, soda, Perrier sparkling water, Pringle chips and Snickers bar. Really nice touch.
The buffet breakfast has a lot of choices with an eggs station too. There were more Indian and Nepali dishes though, but very tasty. We also had a quick snack in the afternoon, buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and a Delhi roll (which was in fact a tortilla filled with chicken masala), both delicious. In the evening they also have a buffet plus a la carte, we only tried their deserts, the one I really wanted was not available but the other two were delicious as well.
The Fairfield is a great hotel which surely will be very popular with tourists, not only for business trips. While we were there two large groups of Chinese and French stayed at the hotel, and a large group of locals had a festival celebration meal (Diwali was going on at the time).
