My husband was flown into Boston this week by the Attorney General's office for a trial. They put him at the Envoy (an Autograph) and he is a Platinum. Will he get points for this week?
I suppose it depends on how the booking was set up, or if there are any deals made between the hotel and the company/person booking the room. Just make sure he has his name and rewards number on the reservation. I booked a room for my aunt, she paid but I got the points as it was under my rewards number. I was staying at the hotel as well but not in her room. The hotel gave me both points, my room and hers even though I only paid for mine.
Great stuff seatexan, like you say, as long as it's not Master Billed or negotiated out, the guideline is "it's who stays - w/name and rewards number" not who pays .
Oops, I just read nipper's good advice as well. Regardless of points, elites should always put in name and number to capture any elite benefits during their stay that they would be entitled to, like breakfast etc.
Tell him to give is MR number when he checks in. It can go either way, but in your case, he should be able to get the points.
I was in Manhattan on someone else's dime and they had already put their MR number in so I did not get the points.
