Can Hotel cancel reservation and then then charge higher rate for same rooms?

I booked 3 rooms directly with hotel last week. I gave them my Marriott # and they pulled up my profile successfully, saw credit card, etc. I was told they would apply the reservation under my Marriott account and I would receive email confirmation to the email address associated with my profile. After not receiving any confirmation I called the hotel again to confirm and was told they did not have my reservation and if I wanted the rooms I could re-book at a higher rate. I asked to speak to a manager and was instead referred to Customer Service who called the hotel while I was on hold, and was told the hotel would honor the reserved rate for only 2 of the 3 rooms.... Seems to me there is something seriously wrong with the hotel being able to do this.


Is there anything I can/should do to report this?
