I would like to do a Platinum status challenge. I am currently Gold. Can someone tell me where to start? Thanks!
Just sent you a private message about this, Carrie!
As we don't know what the response from CommunityManagers was, I can tell you my experience. I was a lowly Silver Elite sometime in 2006 or so, and got an offer for a Gold Challenge. I was immediately upgraded to Gold for, as I recall, three months, with it being upgraded for the rest of the year if I stayed a certain number of nights within those three months. Fortunately, I was just about to head to AZ (Scottsdale, and the Camelback Inn) and I was easily able to get Gold for the rest of the year. From that point on, I never went below Gold.
The Platinum challenges, are, I believe, operated in the same manner. How Marriott determines who gets the challenge solicitation is a mystery, but I'd recommend that any Gold member call the Marriott Rewards number and talk with them about it. To be honest, the difference I felt between Silver and Gold was immense compared to the difference between Gold and Platinum. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't want to go back from Platinum, but you get almost the same benefits with Gold that you get with Platinum.
