Imran, a member of the excellent concierge team at the Leeds Marriott, deserves a Spirit to Serve nomination for his help in getting us to the hotel on Sunday August 6th In time for our scheduled 4pm check in.
With 40,000 people thronging the area around the hotel, for what turned out to be the yearly Leeds Pride festival, the hotel was effectively cut off from traffic. After trying, and eventually giving up, and still around 400 yards to the hotel, we contacted Imran, who walked through the masses and drove us through backstreets to what looked like the only way into the Trinity car park, which backs onto Trevelyan Square, right opposite the hotel. (We were told by stewards manning the road blocks that there was no way we could get to this car park before 9pm).
Without Imran's help, I very much doubt we would have got to the hotel before 9pm, when the crowds started to disperse.
